Several of America's longtime Quake 3 superstars have decided to sit out the ESWC US qualifiers. United States of America Paul "czm" Nelson, United States of America John "ZeRo4" Hill, and United States of America Jason "socrates" Sylka will each take a pass on the online qualification system set in place this year, while United States of America Walter "walter" Outlaw's situation is up in the air.
"I would only sign up if either (1) fatal1ty signed up and ZeRo4 did not, or (2) the total number of registered participants were divisible by 12. Neither condition was met," czm explains. "Maybe, just maybe, I'll apply for ESWC masters. I'll have time before the Masters to get in shape. I mean, when was the last time I didn't place top 3?"
"I think the US qualifier is full of cheaters," ZeRo4 said emphatically. "Either the USA has the top 10 players in the world, or somebody found a way to shoot 70% rail and 40% LG without even trying to control the map. I'd really love to see who's legit and who isn't."

Czm, ZeRo4, socrates sit out ESWC US qualifiers, apply to Mas
Re: Czm, ZeRo4, socrates sit out ESWC US qualifiers, apply to Mas
man, that's some engrish there. someone needs a proofreader.
great news update though. still could use some backstory on czm not wanting to do the online qualifier - worried he'd lose?
edit: read the full z4/carmac interview and i gotta say that z4 is retarded. he won some tourneys, sure, but the same arguments he uses against fat could be used against him by the russians (cooller) and swedes. fat left q3 because the shrinking prize money in the game even by 2002 wasn't worth the risk to his brand were he to have an off day and get punked. so he moved to other games where he could make more money and feed off mutual publicity with CPL. he wasn't in it for some samurai honor crap, he was making $.

Simple, does guys that have been on top of the pro qualification, are afraid to loose there popularity...if they play again and loose...everybody will forget them, but now they are in a way of speaking...( legendary ) peoples will never forget them for how they use to play...but if they make a come-back and loose, everybody will forget them...

cooler qualified already so he will skip the masters tournament and only go to the finals. lots of other pros came back so we will see some nice games again: )
Re: Czm, ZeRo4, socrates sit out ESWC US qualifiers, apply to Mas
a couple couldn't get sponsors for travel money and some others really just don't play anymore. it's been at least 3 or 4 years since the q3 seen was really alive.
