A Quick Question

Were the guys who made Quake Wars the same guys who made Quake 1-4? (id) I'm one of the younger players (I'm 11) who's mom has total control over their life, and my mom wants to know this in case of viruses. And I admit it, I am a no0b.

Quake Wars was made by a company in England called Splash Damage. id software helped with design and tech but the game wasn't made by id.

Quake 1,2 and 3 were made by id but Quake 4 was made by Raven...again with id helping in design and tech.

As to viruses...what does that have to do with this?

id's logo is on the Quake 4 box because it's id's IP, and they provided the engine (the same one used in Doom 3). They didn't develop the game, but they were involved in the production.

There are no viruses from ET:QW. It does download updates, but it only downloads them from authorized servers.

There are no legitimate developers that would think to include viruses in their software if they wanted to stay in business.

The way I'm reading this is that you think that any game NOT made by id might be "bogus" and contain viruses? If that's the case...tell your mom to relax and that viruses aren't lurking behind every new software install/internet link.
