american gangster - 7/10 - a strangely structured movie, in that it was long but felt like it should have been longer. mostly i had fun spotting all the actors from other things, like timothy olyphaunt's jew sidekick from deadwood, or the guy who played dyson in terminator 2, "it puts the lotion in the basket" psycho from silence of the lambs etc, plus denzel and chiwetel ejiofor teamed up again (inside man)

Great style, but the story is a bit silly. This time I saw it I noticed that the voiceover at the start basically spoilers the entire movie, it's really stupid.

Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence - 8/10

Felt like a really long episode from the Stand Alone Complex series.

However, the art had a stronger style and direction than the first GITS movie. I suppose this is to be expected considering art techniques have changed since 1995.

The storyline wasn't anything too amazing. It was just pretty much a reiteration of "what does it mean to be alive? Do we really exist?"

Cool fight scenes. More action than the first Ghost in the Shell.

They Live - 5/10

I'm a big fan of John Carpenter, but all his movies don't quite reach the same class as Escape from New York or The Thing.

They Live might not have had the best script, the best actors or an especially high budget, but it's got quite a lot of charm, especially if you like 80's B-movies.

The pacing is surprisingly slow and almost laid back, which makes it feel kinda wierd, but that's Carpenter's style, and that's ok with me, although I guess it could rub other people the wrong way.

Wall-E - 9/10

I'd say this is Pixar's best work.

I was very impressed with this movie and was surprised how the movie appeals to both little kids and old grumpy farts.

Very funny. The audience made the movie even more enjoyable when only 5 other people besides myself understood what Wall-E's boot up sound was. At least, only 5 other people laughed about it with me.

Again, excellent movie. Definately worth seeing in theaters.

Yeah, that was good up until they started with the wrestling moves. But I guess if you cast a pro wrestler as your lead you really are more or less obliged to put some wrestling moves in there.

Hard Candy: 7/10 sounds about right.
saw this based on these recommendations and wasn't disappointed.
production quality is a bit average, but the acting is spot on and it has some of the most tastefully done torture i've seen on film.

Hancock - I love Will Smith movies but this one just plain sucked.

Charlie Wilson's War - Great movie! Tom Hanks fits this role beautifully. Philip Seymour Hoffman (Capote) was also great. Couldn't place while watching the movie.

I'm not saying I'm a Shamayan fan, but I kinda liked all of his previous movies because he could build up suspense and mystery.

BUT THIS PILE OF CRAP was nothing like that at all: it was like a 80's movie, it was cheesy as hell, the point of the movie was very badely delivered and there was no suspense at all.

Batman- Gotham Night 7.5

as if it isn't obvious as to how, I downloaded this by mistake, and it turned out to be 5 or 6 short anime's good little stories ...all independent from each other yet they take place right after "Batman Begins" it's like a nice filler while we wait for the upcoming movie.

Each animation is done in different style so you get to enjoy that aspect of it as well

Towards the end it got a bit slow i thought, but loved it... the film fucked up in the last 30 minutes or so and the little HS dipshit up in the booth wasn't paying attention so ~5 minutes of the movie was viewed with the top half on the bottom and bottom on top.

A few (very few) laughs. Would have scored higher if the movie was just about Hancock being drunk and fucking up every classic superhero moment somehow. But no. Don't want to ruin anything here so I wont say much but the whole "misunderstood" thing and a family wanting to help just pissed me off.

I wanted to see a "superhero" who didn't give a shit that everybody would hate to see show up during a crisis.
