Shaolin Soccer - 8/10

Very strange but funny movie. I blame the Chinese sense of humour, which appears to be completely absurd...

If you haven't see Kung Fu Hustle, you might check it out. It's from the same group that produced Shaolin Soccer, but I think it's newer... lots of weird special effects and slapstick humor.

Before the Devil Knows You're Dead - 8.5/10

Fairly slow to develop, and they overdid the flashback-flashforward just a bit, but some excellent acting by Philip Seymour Hoffman, Ethan Hawk and Marisa Tomei really made it a good watch. I'd recommend it -- and not only because you get a couple of nice, long shots of Marisa Tomei's perky breasts.
But damn, nickle, that girl fine!

Over the weekend we did the out until 3:45am hoping your battery is as new as you think it is, drive-in holiday weekend triple feature.

Kung Fu Panda - 2/10
It was on before Iron Man so I sat through it. All I can say is that it was an absolutely awful movie. It seems the only reason this movie was made was to sell crap to small children. The animation was average, plot and "messages" were trite, and the entire movie had one joke that wasn't physical loony toons slapstick. Dreamworks delivers yet another turd.

Iron Man - 6/10
The movie I actually was looking to see turned out to be pretty average. I liked The incredible hulk better, and without Robert Downey Jr I would have been sorely disappointed. I swear, they must have run a line of cocaine from his dressing room to the set each day because he picked that fucking movie up, put it on his shoulders, and ran with it from start to finish. Quality entertainment.

The Love Guru: 4/10
I was expecting the worst and really it wasn't as bad as reviews make it out to be. Has ups and downs with plenty of juvenile laughs mixed in with one or two clever jokes. Basically it was a typical Mike Myers movie, nothing special.

Wall-E = 9/10

I was a skeptic based on the trailers, but simply put it's enchanting. Very little dialogue forces them to rely on Chaplin-style physical comedy, which Pixar pulls off with their usual aplomb; and given the post-apocalyptic scenario there's lots of social commentary (critical of consumerism, technology/automation, laziness, apathy, environmental degradation, etc.).

Lots of references, too: Blade Runner right off the bat, and then Aliens (Sigourney Weaver is a voice), E.T., 2001, etc.

I recommend it.

I grew up watching anime, I laughed my ass with this movie because of anime style kind of humor and special effects. The scene where the wind of his kick makes a blastwave just before he stops infront of the guy's face is so typical anime style, I rofld

I wonder how long it will take for this forum to jump on the Orphanage bandwagon.

Hancock 3/10

Even worse than i expected. Entirely predictable from beginning to end, features some extremely bad acting and manages to deliver every single joke in a way that is painfully unfunny.

Why do i watch Will Smith movies? I must hate myself.

EDIT: on second thought, no it's not that. I think it's the fact that most Will Smith vehicles have great concepts and pisspoor excecution. The idea of a superhero that makes a mess of things because he's immortal and invulnerable and doesn't give a shit lends itself to all kinds of potential hilarity - but all is thrown overboard in favor of a standardized story arc and a popcorn ending. Fuck you, mainstream movie industry, fuck you for wasting my time with your worthless nonesense.

Why is everyone so amazed that Hancock is a pile of shit? I could tell that straight away from the trailer. I wouldn't even download it, let alone go to the cinema.

Haven't you uncultured faggots had The Orphanage released in your pathetic countries yet?

It must really suck not to be able to enjoy movies for what they are. Hancock was alright.
Standard Hollywood plot, check. Action, check. Humor, check.
I dont see how anyone would go to this expecting some epic movie.

I can't stand the sixth sense. The kid pisses me off too much for me to enjoy any aspect of the movie.

In Bruges: 7/10 highly recommended. This is certainly Farrell's best performance in some time.
