8800gt 512mb for $140?

Post by Tsakali »

is this going to be enough for me to play "Mass Effect" for example.

I don't game much anymore but I do get the urge once in a while so spending money on a higher end v-card is not really a wise option for me.

so does 8800gt still holds its own ? can it truly be called a dx10 card?

I am not too demanding and my monitor only does 1280 resolution and 40-50 fps are fine by me...although I do like the graphics to be bumped up.

the cheapest 9800gtx is about $60 u.s. more than the 8800, not bad really

ps

I like to buy from newegg.com those guys are running a solid operation and the prices are usually some of the best out there so browsing around isn't worth it.

I'm playing Mass Effect on my 8800GT. Added 8QxAA with nHancer and it's still smooth as heck. Beautiful game too and one of the best storylines I've ever experienced. I'd recommend the 8800GT for best bang for buck. Later you could SLI it for shits and giggles.

PS. Don't bother with Tigerdirect, they're morons. Go with http://www.ncix.com

anyway I got it in a few days ago and I am very impressed! I tried Crysis on everything maxed at 1280x1024( no AA) and the fucker is hanging in there like a trooper

it's even more impressive since it only has an Athlon 64 x2 3600+ and a shitty mobo to work with.

Yeah she's a beaut

Crysis maxed here with DX10 and 2xAA and it still runs like a dream.

I haven't even tried AA cause I'm so impressed with the high settings as it is

turning on AA right now would be as if I just won the lottery and I'm pissed that it will only be enough for a 3 story yacht instead of that 4 story yacht right next to it. :)

What resolution? Because all the benchmarking sites show that even cards running in SLI don't run like a dream with Crysis maxxed. Wait - they are probably running the AA much higher...

Actually most benchmarks I've seen aren't even running AA. 1280x1024 btw.
