can someone please recomend me some good active Q3 mods? thanks.

Download a server browser - take a look here: http://www.quake3world.com/q3guide/quickstart.html - and you can see for yourself what is hot and what is not. But to answer your question: CPMA and OSP are probably the most played mods nowadays.

I enjoy the Carnage mod.

It's still being developed for v1.16n, so you probably won't be able to use it though, unless you run v1.16n.

ASE is still listed on there and it's not even supported anymore. :miffed:

Bid for Power (Anime)
Coliseum (from the makers of Lithium for Q2..kind of a majestic form of beryllium with alot more options)
Corkscrew (Instagib-Railgun only)
Doom2Frag (Q3 with Doom Weapons)
Excessive (name pretty much says it)
Generations (Q1, Q2..for Q3)
Gang (CTF where everyone on each team has to capture, rather than just one player like normal)
Greed (Collect coins from hitting other players to buy weapon) <<very challenging
Headhunters (Collect head..drop them off at the altar to get frag points)
Hunt (ever player is visible until they fire)
q3rally (Race Cars)
Rune (You would have to play it..kind of hard to quickly explain..but it rocks)
Ufreeze (TDM style where you freeze the other team with weapon hits)
Western (Cowboy mod)

I think you'll find that most of those aren't active, which is what he asked for.
Freeze Tag has been incorporated into CPMA (Ufreeze was a different mod, though, and a better one). I don't know how to find CPMA servers running it, though. Not in ASE, anyway (which still works for me).

CPMA is easily the most played and most up-to-date mod out there now. OSP was on the same par, but its out of development. Has been for years.

DeFrag is also good - great learning tool for movement and technique (provided you have a decent defrag map to play in).

Finally, my favourite mod, CorkScrew. Very colorful instagib mod, and a lot of fun :)

I meant to find servers that already have it running. Anyway I found it now, it's simply there to select in ASE (only found 2 servers, though, and they were filtered out, probably too high ping). It must have been an older version of ASE the last time I looked for it. So it doesn't seem to be an active mode.

Anyway for the voting of it on, you can find the command by doing:
/callvote mode
and it will tell you the modes you can choose (eg. /callvote mode 1v1)

I suggest doing it on a server with players already on it, though, as the lack of servers already running it could mean that people have stopped looking for it. Or it could just be ASE not showing all servers. Does ASE miss out some servers?

A word of advice, do not get Q3f (Quake 3 Fortress) its made by valve, and it is similar in many ways to Team Fortress, but its unplayable! There are never any players online, (its online only), its a pain to run, (you have to manually add the Q3F pak files to baseq3) and there's no bot support either. Even if you wanted to compile all of the maps with a .aas (bot support), the bots would be crap, coz there is certain new entities, such as ladders that bots could'tnt work out to use.
