Soul Calibur Cuatro

Post by Grandpa Stu »

anyone else play this yet? i just got it for the ps3 and it's blown me away. i never thought they'd be able to touch the magic that was SC on the DC again but it seems they have. with this and street fighter 4 comming out soon, all that needs to be done is release a new killer instinct and the trifecta of my fav fighting games will be complete :D

oh, and vadar is a bit naff, but the extra characters designed by the external artists are amazing.

Tira is fucking crazy and by far my fav; hawt.

yeah, SC2 was a bit of a let down for me after playing SC on the DC to death, so i never bothered with SC3. perhaps the lack of a decent fighting game for the past 7 years or so has lowered my standards a bit in the genre but SC4 most definitely lives up to its name. it doesn't feel as frantic and fast paced as the DC masterpiece but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. the tweaks to SC4 are spot on and work beautifully together.

i heard that yoda was a bit unbalanced as well, but honestly, anyone who's buying this for the starwars characters isn't buying it for the right reasons at all.

i havn't even fully explored all the features but my impression of the game already is that they've nailed it; the extras are more like icing on the cake as far as i'm concerned.

Does SC4 still look as bland as SC3 did? I remember being at a party once with Tekken 5 and SC3 being played in the same room. It was horrendously obvious which game looked like more fun.

Stained glass windows are a nice touch.

So you equate bland looks with fun?

imo, it's not as visually stunning as T5, but it plays real well.
