Q3A point release problem

I recently found my Q3A disc and wanted to try it on my new computer. The game installs fine but when i try to apply the point release (q3pointrelease_132.exe) nothing happens. I have tried it from the command line to see if there are any error messages, but the same thing happens (nothing). The file opens and closes immediately and doesn't modify any Q3A files. Anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Peculiar. Where did you download the file from? Try iD's own FTP server: ftp://ftp.idsoftware.com/idstuff/quake3/

Is your disc already the latest version?

Check in your Q3 folder for one named "Quake III Arena 1.32c". Go into it, open the folder named "win32", an there you will find your new exe. Cut it, and paste it into your main Quake III Arena folder (overwriting the old exe). Presto.
