Fun gig

Post by DRuM »

Played a blues brothers gig last night at the earls court one venue in front of about 2000 enthusiastic people at a beer festival. Kind of like a mini glastonbury, and they loved us so much we had to give them 2 encores. Complete sight reading gig for me which kept me on my toes. 7 piece band with 3 horns. Massive stage, drum riser and 2 fuck off huge monitors just for me blasting my ears out. Venue crew brought our gear into and out of the stage area from and to our cars ( parked in their massive hangar ) and we were finished by 10pm, which is nice and early compared to most gigs. No, I didn't throw my sticks into the crowd.

Yeah, there's nothing like a nice, early finish to really get into the spirit of rock and roll....

Played to about 50 unenthusiastic people at the Albany last night. Now I'm on call all effing weekend. Again.

Cool, I didn't know you played. What instrument?

That was my last pair and I hadn't bought another batch for my next gig which was last night with my own band. These sticks are now officially shredded and fucked :D

holy shit i must've been time warping hardcore when i posted this because i SWEAR this thread is like a month old... ...

...

at the time a was just spinning so i wasn't actually playing an instrument. though there is an art to proper DJ'ing; my best show i encored for a good 2 hours.

i do actually play the piano though. i've takin music theory lessons and have a pretty decent understanding of what makes a song a "song." in all honesty, i have mad props for you playing drums. beats are the one concept i have the most trouble with. i can lay down a melody and harmonize on a whim. when DJ'ing, beat matching is like second nature to me; i can go between breaks, drum'n'bass, electro and change up time between a standard 4/4 to a fun 3/4 swing. but when anybody asks me to lay down a drum track i tell them to see what i've done in a few days. drums are the one thing that i can't "feel" and end up getting too involved with to the point that several tracks i've layed down end up being unfinished.

because I find your confusion to be the typical dutch response, it is also therefore, chronically unfunny in nature.

Your shallow & depraved analysis of the situation and the consequent blatantly anti-dutch conclusion you reach will be archived and used against you at a later time.

Let the record at this time show that the Dutch did in fact archive said analysis for possible reference in the future.
