Why can't you see the positive side of this instead of your boring negativity ? If she can do this at 8, what might she be capable of before she's even 20? Could you paint this now or ever? I highly doubt it.

PS, I don't believe she did it. They refuse to show footage of her actually painting them

Yeah, there's been controversy that she didn't paint them or that she only finished them off. That's certainly a possibility. But if she did do them, then I think it's amazing work.

Her 'art' is dull and uninspiring, but the exploitation of her talents for cash is pretty impressive

I was thinking the same thing. I have to agree with Drum though, she's only 12 or whatever... give her another 10 years. If she's still painting the same uninspired drivel, then fuck it. But maybe she'll have some cool stuff by then. Still, too bad she's steeped in religion. It's hard for me to take that crap seriously.

I was inspired to paint all the races, but to find people of color where I lived was very hard. After a lot of prayer I met two black children whose story was so amazing that I wanted to paint it right away.

That should settle it right there... fucking white bitch in a white world painting poor white people for rich white people. who cares if they're pretty paintings. :disgust:

it's technically impressive for someone her age, but the actual work is just kitsch, on a par with dogs playing cards

Exactly what I was thinking seremtan.
Which again makes me question whether she did it, as it takes years of stupid to build up such an idea of "art".

I understand how you're all impressed and dazzled by this kid's work, i'm just trying to point out that while it's technically impressive, it's completely devoid of substance. It's not art, it's kitsch.

She's GOT to have had art classes. There's no way her parents wouldn't enroll her once they realized her potential. Too bad she isn't getting anything out of them. I bet they were expensive, too.

What's with the messiah complex?
She can work a brush, no doubt, but the whole thing is a bit sickening.
But probably shouldn't be hating on a kid, blah.

so she's never actually been observed by an impartial third party painting anything. and apparently her parents are failed painters. and she paints the same genre of crappy kitsch that her parents failed at (impressive for a 12 year old, sure, but :puke: if you don't believe the story).

i have an issue of Skeptic around that discussed a child painting prodigy. i don't know if it was this particular scam or not, but it had all the same things wrong with it. i'll try and dig it up at home tonight.

I find it very impressive... in some of her pieces, the technical aspects that had to go into creating such visual depth is enough to drop anyone's jaw unless you're a moron. Not to mention she does these out of thin air.

You people are fucked.

She's 9 years old and already has a commanding grasp of texture, lighting, composition and pose. The faces have slightly fucked features...but she's 9 years old...she'll improve.

For any of you moronic doubters, her work is on par with any concept artist in the games industry (minus the fucked facial features...because she's 9 years old).

I get the feeling some of you still wouldn't be impressed if she put a paintbrush in her snatch and painted doing a handstand.

It's not that GKY, it's the subject matter which, as seremtan pointed out, is about as artistic as dogs playing poker. Or blue women.
Technically, it's accomplished.
Stylistically, it's junk.
