Is it me or is it a fault at AVG's end? Anyone else getting this problem? It'll start updating, do nothing for a while then say update failed.

Fortunately, I still have my 7.5 installation exe so I've uninstalled 8.0 and put 7.5 back.
It's a shame though, the 8.0 taskbar icon was purdy.

I went back to 7.5 as well. However, you can tweak 8.0 to make it less retarded...important since 7.5 support ends sometime this winter afaik.

Jesus christ, just don't install link scanner and email scanner and you're set.
8.0 was ok again a couple of hours later, btw.
I don't really understand the panic; it's not like you're unprotected. Your definitions just get updated a little later.

i ditch AVG soon , it's not protecting us from a virus that's floating around the zillion memory sticks we have at work.
our IT guy is too lazy so i've had to dis-infect 4 laptop and 7 memory sticks manually.
going to give AVAST a try very soon

I ran AVG 8 and it said everything was fine. For kicks, I uninstalled AVG and intalled Avast...ran Avast....and it found 32 trojans and trackers. Hmmm. I kept the Avast.
