Redbelt: 7/10 Ejiofor is superb as the lonely hero. As in Mamet's other work, the writing is first rate and all the characters have some depth. However, some inexplicable plot elements keep the movie off the top rank. Might rate higher after a 2nd viewing.
in a theater: Tropic Thunder. is was indecent but funny! i give it 3 out of 5 stars.
on cable: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire which was excellent! i finally got caught up on all the Harry Potter films. i guess time goes by fast now and they came out so fast i lost track, but now i am caught up (i saw Order of the Phoenix before Goblet). I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars. the potter films get better each time.
Speaking of iron man, watched Tetsuo: The Iron Man again last night.
Truly the stuff on nightmares.
It's a bit artsy fartsy with the black and white and all, but definitely one of the most unsettling movies I know.
If you're into horror, or manga, or weirdness in general, you should really see this.
The humor was great, when it hit the mark. But the rest of the movie seems to lack a point and was dreadfully slow. Good directing and cinematography made up for some of that. Good work by Gleeson and Fiennes. Meh by Farrell.
This movie has so much awesome in it. Lost a couple points because it's not something I'd watch again. This movie runs on "what's going to happen next?" so after you've seen it the magic tends to be gone.
Very funny movie though and lots of scenes that I didn't see coming.
Mirrors = 8/10 - Good suspense/horror flick with a high creepiness factor. I larfed when Keifer Sutherland was questioning the old man and said,"Don't make me threaten you." I thought he was gonna pull out his glock and knee-cap him like he does in 24.
Unearthed = larf/10 - Typical B-monster movie.
The Clone Wars = 8/10 - Good production but the animation is too "snappy" for my liking, they lost that nice "flow" in the way a Jedi moves. The interaction of the battledroids were ghey as usual which sorta made it feel like a kid's film at times. They got Sam Jackson and Christopher Lee for their respective roles. Nowhere near as "epic" as the original cartoon series but overall a better Star Wars movie than the prequels.
FFS...Vincent Price???

I want to see Mirrors just for that scene where the chick rips her own jaw off.
