punkbuster..
I have all the updates from punkbuster, and the auto-update says i have all the updates yet I still get kicked from every CoD4 server because I don't have pb updates... wtf am I missing here.. very frustrating
It's the PnkBstrB.exe that isn't getting to the server.... seems a lot of people have this problem and now I am one of them, FUCK.

Re: punkbuster..
one would assume you've tried closing pnkbsterb.exe, deleting it, and re-running the update.. right?

Re: punkbuster..
Fire up CoD4 then quit.
Then CTRL+ALT+DEL and look at the processes tab. You should have PnkBstrA.exe and PnkBstrB.exe both running.
You need these two running or you'll get kicked from the game.

Re: punkbuster..
Or delete your PB folder and update it manually again.
Re: punkbuster..
Tried both of those too, but in the processes tab it only has PnkBstrA.exe, and no B, which I find odd because I also deleted the pb folder, copied it back into the cod4 folder from quake 3, and then updated it. It's odd because there is no PnkBstrA.exe in the pb folder, just B, which does not seem to want to work.

Re: punkbuster..
Check your PM. Make sure you delete your old PB folder.
Re: punkbuster..
Thanks for the file, much appreciated but it's still doing the same old... evenbalance sent me this:
-----------------------------------
It looks like PnkBstrB is failing to start. Please make sure you allow the service files in security software like virus scanners and/or firewalls (even if you turn them off while playing). You will need to allow/unblock the services PnkBstrA.exe and PnkBstrB.exe from your "C:\Windows\system32\" folder (or "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\"on 64bit systems). In case of doubt, manually add both to your firewall's allow list. After the installation process you will only find PnkBstrA, so just make sure this process file is not blocked. Then try playing on a PB enabled server, in case of a kick, check if PnkBstrB was created and unblock it too.
Please make sure that the PnkBstrA service is set to start automatically every time your computer starts. Go to: Start menu, Settings, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services and change PnkBstrA to start Automatically.
If PnkBstrB is never created, please do the following:
* Make sure you have rebooted/restarted your computer since having this issue.
* Download the latest version of PBSVC from:
http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/pbsvc/pbsvc.exe
* Disable your security software (virus scanners for example) temporarily (disconnect your computer from the internet if you feel this is unsafe).
* Make sure you don't play through a network share.
* Make sure you run the latest drivers, especially drivers for network adapters.
* Run PBSVC and press the "Test Services" button. This will test all components of the PunkBuster Services, including a trigger to start PnkBstrB.
* Check if PnkBstrB.exe is now available in the "C:\Windows\system32\" folder.
* Enable your security software again if closed and add PnkBstrB to the allow list (described above).
* Run the following tool: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Antivirus/ ... oyer.shtml (not for Vista)
* Copy-paste the "Test Services" output from PBSVC in a new note if things are not working correctly and explain further what you have tried additionally.
----------------------------------------
I'm still working on variations of that because that method didn't work.

Re: punkbuster..
Reinstalled game, and it worked on the old versions. The most recent patch and pb update gave me the same kick from servers... frustrating indeed

Then you have a serious problem.
Re: punkbuster..
To make matters worse, windows updated itself and then the computer wouldn't make it to the login screen. XP is reinstalling now... posting from a friends comp
