and indeed it does--> the updated score is 8/10. I think any of you MMA fans will dig this...though I'm still not sure about the rapid acceleration to the ending. It's not a martial arts movie per se...but as a fight movie it succeeds admirably. I'm a big Mamet fan so my glasses might be rose tinted a bit but give it a go.Hannibal wrote:Redbelt: 7/10 Ejiofor is superb as the lonely hero...Might rate higher after a 2nd viewing.

Re: The last movie you saw
Nicholson was in the first Batman movie in the series (1989). It looks like they were trying to get a bit of the look of the original tv series (http://www.batmania.com.ar/images/image ... ker_13.jpg) as well as stay true to the original comic book storyline which MKJ quoted above. It gave Nicholson a very narrow field to act in. Using Cesar Romero's Joker as a guideline, with the terrible imobile mouth prosthesis, I don't know what actor could have done better.Chupacabra wrote:am i the only one to think that jack nicholson's joker is really overrated?
Re: The last movie you saw
I'm not slamming it. I'm using it to partially explain Nicholson's performance (or lack thereof). It dictated his makeup which makes a big difference in the look of the character. Ledger looked less cartoony, more tragic and believable; and freeing up the bottom portion of his face (to a greater extent), allowed him more expression.MKJ wrote:and if youre going to slam how they explained the Joker in the first movie..well..

Fuck the hype and check it out. The movie is worth watching regardless of anyone's death.Doombrain wrote:I've not seen this film yet because I’ve been put off by the sickly media outpour regarding Ledger.
It's just like when someone died back at school and people come out of the woodwork, kissing ass. People that seem to get off on grief.

waiting for HD now

Has IMAX scenes so that'll be worth it. I might drop the coin for a blu-ray drive for this.Doombrain wrote:waiting for HD now

Death Race:
Only about 30 seconds into it but the acting is hilariously bad though the action seems pretty good. Reminds me of carmageddon.
my god every line in this cracks me up

Choke - ?/10
I'm still trying to figure this flick out. It feels like I missed something important. I read a synopsis of the book on wikipedia, which explained the plot, and quite a bit of that plot wasn't exactly recognizable in the movie unless you already knew it going in. Lots of hilarious moments, but it all seemed kinda pointless. Maybe because I was completely drunk.

Lust, Caution
ang lee's latest release. Need to watch it again to fully get the subtleties, but a good movie with bloody incredible sex scenes.

Forbidden Kingdom - 3/10 Good fight scenes but extremely bad acting. Jackie Chan's drunken antics and the nonstop action saved it from being unwatchable.
Baby Mama - 6/10 I got dragged into watching this one with my gf expecting the worst but it ended up having some laughs and being an alright show.

I find it odd that Pahlaniuk, a gay man, writes so much about rather empty, unhappy, unusual heterosexual sexual relationships and problems.R00k wrote:Choke - ?/10

this is so horrible a movie, it doesn't deserve a rating.

Probably because if they were homosexual relationships noone would read his books.feedback wrote:I find it odd that Pahlaniuk, a gay man, writes so much about rather empty, unhappy, unusual heterosexual sexual relationships and problems.R00k wrote:Choke - ?/10

Bigger stronger faster
A documentary about steroid use, made by some soul searching Joe Sixpack.
Not very interesting or insightful, but amusing because it scrutinizes muscle/performance fetishes in a Michael Mooreish style.
