and indeed it does--> the updated score is 8/10. I think any of you MMA fans will dig this...though I'm still not sure about the rapid acceleration to the ending. It's not a martial arts movie per se...but as a fight movie it succeeds admirably. I'm a big Mamet fan so my glasses might be rose tinted a bit but give it a go.

am i the only one to think that jack nicholson's joker is really overrated?

Nicholson was in the first Batman movie in the series (1989). It looks like they were trying to get a bit of the look of the original tv series (http://www.batmania.com.ar/images/image ... ker_13.jpg) as well as stay true to the original comic book storyline which MKJ quoted above. It gave Nicholson a very narrow field to act in. Using Cesar Romero's Joker as a guideline, with the terrible imobile mouth prosthesis, I don't know what actor could have done better.

I'm not slamming it. I'm using it to partially explain Nicholson's performance (or lack thereof). It dictated his makeup which makes a big difference in the look of the character. Ledger looked less cartoony, more tragic and believable; and freeing up the bottom portion of his face (to a greater extent), allowed him more expression.

I've not seen this film yet because I’ve been put off by the sickly media outpour regarding Ledger.
It's just like when someone died back at school and people come out of the woodwork, kissing ass. People that seem to get off on grief.

Fuck the hype and check it out. The movie is worth watching regardless of anyone's death.

Only about 30 seconds into it but the acting is hilariously bad though the action seems pretty good. Reminds me of carmageddon.
