Now mccain is trying to postpone Friday's debate with Obama so he can work on the economy.
I still can't believe that the media hasn't hammered Palin more for lying about going to Iraq. Hillary's lie was fodder for everyone in the news for weeks.

Re: Bye Bye McCain's campaign manager?
McCain's campaign is melting down is what's happening.
Obama called him at like 8:30 in the morning and proposed that they do a joint statement about the economy and the points they agree on. McCain called back around 2:30, saying that he agreed to it, and then immediately held a quick press conference of his own in which he declared that he was going to suspend his campaign - and he challenges Obama to do so as well. (even though he was just saying a few days ago that our economy was still fundamentally strong)
Everybody saw through this immediately - but my favorite so far is what Dave Letterman apparently said:
http://www.crooksandliars.com/2008/09/2 ... ellations/
Meanwhile Palin isn't even allowed to be near reporters - the one time a reporter asks her a question, all the press are ushered out of the room while Palin is seen whispering to McCain, where it comes across like she's asking him permission to speak.
Honestly. What a train wreck. If this out of touch loser even comes close to getting elected it may drive me to go on a spree of idiot-killing across the country.

LOLLetterman mocks McCain cancellation
Per Drudge, some brutal late night shots at McCain, who cancelled on Letterman tonight:
David Letterman tells audience that McCain called him today to tell him he had to rush back to DC to deal with the economy.
Then in the middle of the taping Dave got word that McCain was, in fact just down the street being interviewed by Katie Couric. Dave even cut over to the live video of the interview, and said, "Hey Senator, can I give you a ride home?"
Earlier in the show, Dave kept saying, "You don't suspend your campaign. This doesn't smell right. This isn't the way a tested hero behaves." And he joked: "I think someone's putting something in his metamucil."
"He can't run the campaign because the economy is cratering? Fine, put in your second string quarterback, Sarah Palin. Where is she?"
"What are you going to do if you're elected and things get tough? Suspend being president? We've got a guy like that now!"
Meanwhile Palin isn't even allowed to be near reporters - the one time a reporter asks her a question, all the press are ushered out of the room while Palin is seen whispering to McCain, where it comes across like she's asking him permission to speak.

Re: Bye Bye McCain's campaign manager?
And yet McCain might still win.
Re: Bye Bye McCain's campaign manager?
Not might. He will.
We will elect a guy who is running from the debates and a woman who will not let true reporters come near her who is a religious zealot and goes to a church where they do exorcisms and the like. But Obama is the one with a pastor problem. GO fucking figure. Fuck this country. God why can't she fall out of a helicopter during a hunting trip?

Re: Bye Bye McCain's campaign manager?
We need Cheney to shot her in the face. Get him a little liquored up again and set him free.
Re: Bye Bye McCain's campaign manager?
McCain wants to push his debate to the night of the VP debate so he can push Palin's debate back too.

Re: Bye Bye McCain's campaign manager?
Leave that wild pig-fucker alone with Palin? We'd have the anti-christ rape-baby on our hands in 9 months.Fender wrote:We need Cheney to shot her in the face. Get him a little liquored up again and set him free.
Of course his heart would give out in the process, so it might be a wash.

Re: Bye Bye McCain's campaign manager?
Absolutely brilliant, he's taken advantage of the crisis and is trying to make himself look like the reformer and agent of change, not Obama. The only way this isn't a huge win for McCain is if he somehow fucks up horrendously and can't skirt blame (next to impossible).
I love quake!
Re: Bye Bye McCain's campaign manager?
That was his hope but I think it is well on its way to being dashed like a mofo. The debate commission has already told him to fuck off and die. If he doesn't show, he'll drop another 10 points in the polls. And given the sequence of events (i.e., Obama called him first about the joint statement stuff) only a few abject retards are likely to see this CUNTRY FIRST crap as anything other than a flaccid political move compelled by desperation.feedback wrote:Absolutely brilliant, he's taken advantage of the crisis and is trying to make himself look like the reformer and agent of change, not Obama. Some of you still seem convinced the Republicans actually want to win this election.

Do you have some double secret probationary evidence to share on this point?creep wrote:Some of you still seem convinced the Republicans actually want to win this election.

Re: Bye Bye McCain's campaign manager?
The evidence that they're trying to lose is in no way a secret. Not even Geoff could engineer such a trainwreck of a campaign.
Re: Bye Bye McCain's campaign manager?
Ok Bush just threw McCain under the bus by asking McCain and Obama, along with all other leaders, to help solve the economic clusterfuck.
I love quake!

Edit: @ creep
Right. So who is the Republican Sithlord behind the scenes who is guiding this self-immolation strategy? Who are the puppeteers? I can't think of any major US election in the modern period where self-destruction as an explicit strategy has brought anyone (or party) long term, decisive gains in political capital.

Re: Bye Bye McCain's campaign manager?
Over the next few years I suspect you'll see a lot of things you haven't seen in 'the modern period'.
Re: Bye Bye McCain's campaign manager?
Cryptic AND evasive. Maybe you should run for political office.

Re: Bye Bye McCain's campaign manager?
They don't need McCain there, nor Obama in all likelihood.
Would be nice if Paulson/Bernanke convened a panel of influential economists for a cursory review of the bailout plan, make compromise adjustments, and then have them informally sign off on it (confidence measure).
Take that to Congress, and maybe we're all the better.

Before anyone says it. The bailout is among the best of a very bad set of options. The moral hazard it creates is dearly concerning, and warrants significant reform of the sector.

Re: Bye Bye McCain's campaign manager?
Barney Frank said the Dems have pretty much agreed on a plan already, and also are fairly certain they have enough votes to get it to Bush.
Maybe the ball will be in his court at the end of the week.

Just like the reforms after the S&L bailout by daddy Bush right?Massive Quasars wrote:Before anyone says it. The bailout is among the best of a very bad set of options. The moral hazard it creates is dearly concerning, and warrants significant reform of the sector.

Edit: Reforms are not likely when the system is being run by the ownership-society swine that are being bailed out. Same as in the early 90s - these days are those days.
