I don't think its a stunt (unless there is some explanation about that with the pics that I didn't read). I saw a documentary once about people with hoarding problems and it ranged from people who hoarded specific things like receipts to people who hoarded everything but garbage to people who literally couldn't bring themselves to throw shit away and didn't even see the squalor they were living in as being problematic. Of course, there are also just people who are lazy and disgusting fucks too.
