The last movie you saw
Re: The last movie you saw
Seriously, they took the Max Payne concept, threw out the story and the music and remade it into a bunch of fucking nonsensical crap. Painful to watch if you played the game.

Max Payne
fail / 10
what guyblowki said. they got the coat right, and some other minor details (names, locations).
they took out the most important aspects what made the game great: metaphorical narration and combat.
seriously. there are about 2 gunfights, none of which are very interesting, and they last about 30 seconds. lol?
conclusion, if you want to see a max payne movie, watch Payback instead.

Re: The last movie you saw
I thought Max Payne looked good in the previews
I haven't played the game nor know anything about it though
Speed Racer = 8/10. I saw it once in theatre and once on DVD and I'm gonna buy it. It's a trip and just plain fun to watch.
Iron Man = 7/10. Also good, I think shorter than Speed Racer, but seemed longer; I'm glad I rented it, but don't care to see it more than once.

Re: The last movie you saw
as did I. the previews make it look good. the narration is only in the first 10 seconds of the movie (exactly the same soundbite), and the slomo gunfight is simply not there.ctrlpuke wrote:I thought Max Payne looked good in the previews![]()
if they made it like the trailers, it would be a halfdecent movie. even without knowledge of the game.
set failure == true

thanks for reminding me to watch... that movie is awesome!! 9/10
Re: The last movie you saw
I've been watching the first season of Extras with Ricky Gervais lately. That show is awesome.
Also my brother managed to hunt down all the episodes of DarkPlace. I'm borrowing the DVDs from him soon, I can't wait to see the rest of it.

Pretty damn entertaining.

Re: The last movie you saw
Batman Begins.
never seen it before, and after loads of people's nerdgasms I decided to watch it.
.... the hell? it didnt do anything at all for me. the hallucination stuff is a terrible plotline, the villain is some uncharismatic Dr No clone, and Bale's as Batman's raspy voice is often more comical than ominous.
oh, and people were hating on Batman Returns' pengiuns with rockets - which I get - but passively summoning swarms of bats is ok? lol
bah. hope Dark Knight is better cause this one just rubbed me the wrong way

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull: 4/10. An underwhelming effort from Spielberg.

Cleaner - 7/10
Renny Harlin usually delivers as expected, and with Samuel L. Jackson and Ed Harris on board, you can't really go wrong. The first half was excellent, very stylish and atmospheric. Unfortunately it loses some of it's charm in the latter half as it becomes a bit too predictable and bland, but regardless of that it stays at least a couple of notches above your average police thriller.
Iron Man - 6/10
Ok, I haven't really read the comic, just a couple of issues here and there, but on the other hand I haven't read much of Batman either, and both of Christopher Nolan's Batman installations were definitely better than this one. The story is a bit flat, the characters are not very inspiring and the humor is rather juvenile a la Transformers. Sure, Robert Downey Jr. is quite charming and I quite liked seeing Jeff Bridges playing the bad guy. But maybe this one was made for the fans of the comic and not really for the general public - for me it fell a bit flat and left me wondering "uh, was that it?".

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull 5/10.
I found the 'omg aliens' especially ridiculous. Like Hannibal said, an underwhelming effort.

Tis true. Emka's just pissed that - watching this movie - he found he was weirdly attracted to men in tight suits...so he's bashing his own homophobia.andyman wrote:he used a sonic device in his shoe if i remember correctlyMKJ wrote:but passively summoning swarms of bats is ok? lol

Freud and all that shit.
Re: The last movie you saw
that must be why i hate Batman & Robin the most

Re: The last movie you saw
Appaloosa - 6.5/10. Not a terrible western but not anywhere near as good as Unforgiven. There were some funny moments but you could tell it was shot on a budget. Ed Harris needs a bit more practice directing.
Philadelphia 10/10. Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington were great. I'm always impressed with Tom Hanks versatility as an actor and in this movie, Denzel was the perfect foil.

The Incredible Hulk: 6/10 Better than the Ang Lee version but not by a whole lot.

The Orphanage - 8/10
Max Payne - 5/10 (but only because of the look of the movie... the writing and acting sucked)
