aqueous dye ink does. UV, solvent, eco solvent and aqueous pigment does not.

Re: PHOTOS PLEASE
TY sir... I think it ended up pretty good considering I had four weeks to make eight portraits, rent all the costumes, develop, scan and print. I was trying to emulate a book of environmental portraits this guy ( http://www.aperture.org/richard-renaldi ... round.html -- Interesting photos if you're curious ) shot on 8x10, but I gave up after discovering I wasn't going to get the separation he could achieve with such a large negative with 'only' 6x6. Rather than just copy the guy, I decided to dress people up in odd costumes from a local consignment shop.Fanatic X wrote:We're all learning...
Daev's portrait work was a valiant effort, interesting disposition. Square format rocks.
I would have done more, but it just cost too damn much. All told, I probably spent about $800 on the whole project. Costume rental is a bitch... If I ever stop shooting sports for my university, maybe I'll sell off my digital gear and dive head first into the Hasselblad.

Re: PHOTOS PLEASE
With this post, I issue a challenge to all of you photo freaks. We all want to know if our cam or lens is preforming up to par. This is one of the simplest tests that one can do.
It's fairly simple. We can all see the same subject night after night. All you have to do is focus and click.
Let's see how you all do with a simple subject that is called the Moon. As the Moon sits now, it is in the waning stage. This means lots of craters are at their best due to sun exposure and shadows.
Lets see your best over the next few nights. Let us see what your equipment can do.
I will start with one taken just an hour ago. No Photo editing was done.
Canon XTi, 70-300 IS USM (IS was turned off) Tripod mount, ISO 100 @ Aperture 7.1

Re: PHOTOS PLEASE
I had a shot I did awhile back where I took my crappy POS and held it still against the eyepiece of a small telescope at low power and got a decent moon shot (considering what I was working with).
I currently have a 12" schmidt cassegrain from the school here at the house that I wish I could do astrophotography with.

Re: PHOTOS PLEASE
I live in north london and getting a good shot of the moon is next to impossible because of the pollution. I only have a 200mm, but i'll try.
PS, your shot was taken at 480mm, not 300mm.

her teeth look a bit off (not because of the picture, because of the gap.)Doombrain wrote:

Uh. no. I don't know what Exif reader you are using but it's reporting wrong. Not to mention I stripped it from the data.
Shutter Speed 1/200Sec.
Aperture Value F7.1
Metering Modes Partial metering
Exposure Compensation 0
ISO Speed 100
Lens EF70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM
Focal Length 300.0 mm
Image Quality RAW

Re: PHOTOS PLEASE
300mm x 1.6(crop factor) = 480mm
Re: PHOTOS PLEASE
nice pics y'all
Been too busy and lazy to process some photos lately from my trip to Italy.
I'm having a photography block as well. I'll get over it.

Re: PHOTOS PLEASE
So you gonna get a 5DII?
Re: PHOTOS PLEASE
na, only kidding.
There's not enough on the MKII to want to own one IMO. It's not fully weather sealed, which is my only gripe with the MKI. I'm also getting pissed off with the amount of MBs I have to deal with every time I shoot stuff.
13mp is more than enough for a good 13 x 19 print. 21mp's getting into medium format territory and 20mb RAW files.

Good point *looks nefariously at D700*
Re: PHOTOS PLEASE
ah, now that's different. i did a day with nikon uk a bit back and got a good look at one. i must say i really like some of the toys on it. it seems more focused on the photographer, not like canon who seem to be focusing on 'look what we can do' with HD video (IMO had no place on a pro camera).
I can get a good trade discount on any nikon and if i upgrade, it'll be to a 700D with the current models out there.

Re: PHOTOS PLEASE
it's just a shame about the shite lenses nikon make.
Re: PHOTOS PLEASE
You should try the 14-24 and 24-70mm. I read that they rival primes and often surpass them in sharpness and contrast. Anyway, they cost quite a buck.

I'm going to buy my GF a Digital SLR for her birthday. That's about as much as I can contribute at this point.

Re: PHOTOS PLEASE
What I have is a D2x.
All I need is a D2x.
What I want is full frame digital RF to go along with a Leica 50mm F0.95.
In all honestly, I'm still so very satisfied with the D2x performance (IQ/mechanics) that a body upgrade is not necessary. The 5D image quality is just about perfect and even if you did shoot in wet condition the 5D should still hold up fine. If you worry, just wrap a condom over it.

I haven't been out shooting much lately either. Been busy and generally lazy thanks to cold rainy weather.
Here are some older images just to have some visuals up.
