I just installed Quake 3 Arena onto my laptop running Windows XP Home. When I try to start the game it gives me this message:

I have looked all over the internet and people who have simular problems solve it by updating their video drivers. I did so, but the same problem persists.
I am using an acer aspire one notebook with 1 GB of RAM a 1.60 GHz atom processor. It has an intel GMA 950 integrated video card (Intel 945 Express Chipset Family). I have seen someone running it on an aspire one on youtube, so I know that it can be done.
It has no cd drive in it, and I do not have an external one. I am not going to buy one at $80 either. What I do is I put the disc into my other computer and copy the contents onto my usb flash drive or I just copy it over my local network. I did this with Quake 3 Arena.
Wolfenstein Enemy Territory works just fine, and so does Urban Terror (Which is a modification of Quake). OpenGL works just fine apparently because otherwise these programs wouldn't work, right?
I am getting really frustraited with this, and any help whatsoever will really be appriciated.

Re: XP Help
What happens when you throw away the q3config.cfg in your baseq3 directory?

Re: XP Help
When I looked at my quake 3 files, I discovered that I do not have the file you speak of. I think this is because I just copied the files from the program files from a computer where it was installed, instead of installing it from the disc files. I will try to reinstall it the correct way, if I can find the disc...... (Just moved).
