Re: IGN review of fallout 3 up
Manly men doing manly things in a way which totally isn't sexual, and bad guys who jump over the same wall in opposite directions, constantly.... nah, I'll pass.

I'm pretty sure that Fallout 3 might be the best game I've played in the past five years. I am so ennamored with the thing that I played for six hours straight - thinking it was more like two.
Mass Effect is also a great game.

I'm loving it so far.
Re: IGN review of fallout 3 up
how did you change the level? what's the command?o'dium wrote:Ok, I think I must be a super geek or something...
I just hit the level cap
Level 20 is far to fucking easy to get, what were they thinking...? I've had to use the console to downgrade my level so I can gain XP again and get the other perks... What the hell kind of stupid ass idea was that...
and did you just go down to 19 , hit 20 and back to 19 again?
Re: IGN review of fallout 3 up
lol
so you hit the level cap, which is stopping you from getting more perks (the point of gaining a lvl). you want more and therefore think its a gamedesign flaw from the devs.
gee maybe its there for balancing reasons
yea so i was playing q3 and i couldnt kill the enemy with one machinegun bullet - an obvious oversight by id - so i made a machinegun-instakill mod. much better game now

Re: IGN review of fallout 3 up
lol , look this is the first game of its kind I have ever bothered to play...it's just that leveling up has become a big part of the game experience...without leveling up it feels like I'm missing something that I used to strive for in a sense . It's like an indicator of progress and a reward kinda.
and honestly it's the perks ... I want to be able to get all the perks all at least be able to choose which ones i want from all that are available... in that respect yes the developers have a flaw, because the way the level system is set up now, there is no way in hell you can get access to all of them without leveling up. It's like having a gun with 30 bullet capacity yet you can only carry 20 bullets

Re: IGN review of fallout 3 up
You aren't supposed to get all of the perks. The perks are designed to compliment a given play-style. You aren't supposed to have a character that is a super hero and can do anything. You're supposed to create a character that is exceptionally good at one or two things and then capitalize on your skills to get through the game.Tsakali wrote:lol , look this is the first game of its kind I have ever bothered to play...it's just that leveling up has become a big part of the game experience...without leveling up it feels like I'm missing something that I used to strive for in a sense . The game isn't broken, your interpretation of the game is.
Re: IGN review of fallout 3 up
Just so you all know, theres a mod that raises the level cap to 100 now. Its 15kb big too.

Re: IGN review of fallout 3 up
Just picked up a copy. I was thinking when I turned on Oblivion for the first time (first time of three... no perseverance) that I'd like a futuristic version of the same thing without the ye olde style gayness. Voila, now I has exactly that.

Re: IGN review of fallout 3 up
If the game was built in your eyes, then it wouldn't have much replay value. But the way it is now, it has a ton of replay value. Now instead of having a character with all the perks, you get to go back and build several different characters that specialize in only a few...Tsakali wrote:lol , look this is the first game of its kind I have ever bothered to play...it's just that leveling up has become a big part of the game experience...without leveling up it feels like I'm missing something that I used to strive for in a sense . Re: IGN review of fallout 3 up
They put so much into this game, it's unbelievable. For example, I just walked into the market at Rivet City cause I needed to make some purchases. All the merchants were gone. Just as I was wondering where they were, I looked to my right and there stood a security guard. I didn't select him, but he says to me "They're all eating breakfast at Gary's. They'll still sell to you, just ask them". I thought to myself, damn this game is amazing.
Re: IGN review of fallout 3 up
yeah I found the daily routine of the people in each city added to the experience alot.
there's many areas where they went in depth, seems that it takes many diff. aspects of games combines them and then ownz them in each of their field respectively
btw, I didn't consider replay value as I have never replayed a sp video game b4. What you said makes sense, but I would never know... ADD or something else? who knows.

Re: IGN review of fallout 3 up
Oblivion had daily routines too, I remember looking for osme lady in some town and she wasn't there. I looked up the quest and it said that she goes and visits some person in another town on the second sunday of the month or some damn thing...FOund her on the road between the towns...
The first game I recall that kind of stuff in was ultima 6. Not nearly that level, but stores closing at night. I followed the lady that worked at the treasury home, killed her, got her key, then took her back to lord whatshisname and had her resurrected...all was back to normal, but i had the key and stole a bunch of gold bars.
Being that this was in 1988 or thereabouts, I thought this was some really amazing shit.
