lulz

Post by Foo »

One of the drives on my PC fried so I sent it off to WD for a replacement. Waited nearly a month, worried that another drive would keel over and I'd lose the array. Finally get a fresh drive, only to knock some dust in the PSU when fitting it and fry the power....

On top of that, can't order another PSU for next day delivery because I'd have to get it delivered to work, and that's not a paypal verified address.

SUPER AWESOME

It's probably bad that I'm raging at the idea of just 1 day without my PC working.... that's maybe a sad indictment of me :D

how about my day

bought brand new 9800GT because my 8600GT was acting up .. crash after 5 minutes of Fallout ,Warhead and Farcry 2.

been at it this computer forever trying to resolve the instability issue.

So... i plug in the 9800GT and nothing happens .. fans don't spin , no boot ,, DEAD.

so's .. i take it back to the computer store have it checked and before i even start to explain ze problem he asked if i plugged in the 6 pin connector.

I's explains that NO .. i did not know that .. it's not in the manual.
my PSU does not have the 6 pin power
connector.

so i buy a 700 Watt Overclocker PSU .. plug the 6 pin into the 9800GT .. and POOF MAGIC it works.

plug in the 8600GT no more crashes.

SO's i bought some Corsair Ram to celebrate.

bottom line .. i'm an idiot

damn Ax... at least you came out of it with an upgrade.

I've just got a replacement PSU installed. Not as nice as my previous one (still modular but the cables aren't shielded).

On the bright side, motivated me to move rooms in my flat and get the TV set up on the PC desk like a hueg monitor. Looks sweet :D
