First post here so hi all - seems like a cool place.
Not played q3a for years (along with q2 it was a major contributing factor to me failing my first degree) but now many years on i find myself with a bit of time and getting into games again. Tried the wii, tried the xbox360, tried games like unreal tournament 3 and even stuff like half life 2 - and nothing seems to compare with duels and ctf on quake. I mean seriously, i tried the demo for UT3 and it looked like someone had rubbed grease on my screen and the movement was like swimming through mud. Add to that all the unnecessary eye-candy in each level and i couldnt see a damn thing, let alone shoot it. So after that i download the q3a demo for old times sake and within seconds the old feel was back. Quick google pulls up quakelive with carmacks keynote at quakecon and damn!!! let the good times roll. Was never much good but who cares. If quakelive really works out at matching player skill levels and encouraging the community then they could not have picked a better game IMHO.
Just have to get hold of a full copy with cd-key to get off these 4 demo maps now.
back to q3 and quakelive
