Dell LCD Monitors?
Dell LCD Monitors?
Any feedback on if they are any good or not.
I was originally thinking about this Sammy: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6824001263 for $410. It is 1920x1200 (16:10)
But Dell has one with very similar specs for $300 : http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/prod ... u=320-7345
The Dell is 1920x1080 (16:9 HD)
I'd like HDMI because I'm planning on getting a PS3 soon. I want VGA because my older 360 doesn't have HDMI. The newer 360 software supports 16:10 monitors, right? And my laptop has DVI for dual screens, so I need all three types inputs.

Re: Dell LCD Monitors?
If you're after a 1080-res screen with HDMI.. why not get one of the units that's being marketed as a TV, for a typically lower price than those that are marketed as monitors. They're the same panels yet the TVs are more complex but better priced......
Re: Dell LCD Monitors?
Different resolutions, 1920x1200 on the Samsung and 1920x1080 on the Dell.
The Samsung is closer to my Dell 2407 monitor (newer version linked below):

Re: Dell LCD Monitors?
Now that's fucked, i haven't seen a 16:9 Monitor in a long ass time.
Anyway, Computer monitor's are 16:10, so that would be 1920X1200 and basically ALL of the monitor's have 1:1 pixel mapping to 1080P ( My dell 2405FPW does, that says alot ) So they will
natively show 1080P images
that aside, i agree with Foo, you can get a Decent 32" LCD tv for around that...
that will give you the inputs that you are looking for, Support, a big-ass computer monitor, TV, Pr0n one stop shop, etc, etccc..

Re: Dell LCD Monitors?
I've never seen a 32" 1080p LCD, certainly not for $400.
Re: Dell LCD Monitors?
At this point I'm just going to wait for black Friday and see what happens. Maybe something will go on sale that catches my eye. Either a really nice 24" monitor dropping to $300 or a 32" TV dropping to $500. We'll see...
Re: Dell LCD Monitors?
I'm thinking this one.
http://www.amazon.com/Hyundai-W240D-dis ... 375&sr=1-1
$432 shipped and doesn't have the crappy TN LCD panel that most in this price class have.
edit: fuck... conflicting info... might have a TN after all
edi2: apparently there are two versions, one with a TN panel and one with a S-PVA

Re: Dell LCD Monitors?
you could always buy it,check and return it if it does.... ?
That's what a lot of people did with the Dell 2407WFP Because of shitty panels.

Re: Dell LCD Monitors?
Good news is that I can check it out at a local shop with just about the same price and I'd save shipping...

Using one right now. Granted, not $400.Fender wrote:I've never seen a 32" 1080p LCD, certainly not for $400.
Re: Dell LCD Monitors?
That's where I got the list of TN vs non-TN panels. I froogled all the non-TN panels until finding one that was reasonably priced. If this monitor really has a S-PVA panel in it, it is a bargin. Most 24" monitors w/ non-TN panels are well over $1000.SoM wrote:check http://www.hardforum.com for better suggestions.
Oh and I stopped at BestBuy today. I had never really looked at a 24" before. They are freakin' huge.
