i need some help with a sound problem

hi mates
i would like you to help me with this annoying sound problem i 've got with quake 3 !
it's like an interference sound like i don't know how to explain it . it's the same sound when you turn on a TV which has no cable connected to it so there's no signal and starts to sound like a river like a waterfall something like that hahaha i have no idea what it is so it would be great if you can help me!

White noise, I assume? Two questions:

1. What version of Q3 do you have?
2. Does sound in other games work okay?

quake 3 arena and yes sound does work okay in other games it's a problem from quake because if i turn the effect volume down it doesn't sound that noise

Pull down the console (~ a.k.a. the tilde) and look at the bottom right corner, you'll find the version number of your copy there.
