map mods

how do i get map mods to work?i put them in that follder...what ever its called and my game just doesnt start up? it says

oh and how do i get 1.32 i installed 1.32 and it just doesnt change ANYTHING?

You've the demo installed, which can't be upgraded to 1.32 and doesn't really support third-party maps (well, it does but the maps won't load because you miss textures, shaders and what have you).

I'm a little confused on what you are trying to do, but if it's what I think ^misantropia^ explained it just fine. You have the demo, and as your console reads:
Running in restricted demo mode.
There are many features that aren't accessible to you for this reason. q3a is amazingly cheap, hell I picked up q4 last week for under 15 bucks. IIRC I bought q3a three or so years ago for about the same price, wont be hard at all to find online (I know my local walmart/best buy/etc doesn't carry it anymore). :up:

your missing an important .pk3 file that is on the Quake 3 CD .. buy the game

haha oops it works,i installed the 1.32 in wrong folder sorry!thanks for all the replys :)

oh...but wait..where do i put the mods?i but them in baseq3 or what ever it is and they do not show up

:up: I was surprised by the price, but even more so at the price of ET or whatever that game is called that GFY cums all over on the other side of the boards. Was almost the same price but I didn't pay much attention to it as my new card went all wacky on me and crapped out.

edit: And what mod are you having troubles with, the amount of work most people spend creating a idea and implementing it, they usually make a decent readme.txt for troubleshooting/installing/hints/tips lalalalala etc... and iirc there is a little section in teh guide linked at the top of ever page here that touches on mods a bit.

Mods usually (if not always) come in a folder. just put the folder in the same directory as your quake3.exe

eg;

C:/program files/Quake III Arena/quake3.exe
C:/program files/Quake III Arena/cpma

eg2;
