DLP or LCD

Post by pestman1 »

Hello I am in need of some advise.

If you had to chose between a 60 inch DLP or a 47 inch lcd what would you pick, and why.

Thanks in advance

p.s. TV is for living room will be sitting about 9 - 10 feet away, only 2 windows that are behind tv, and i sit in front of tv no side viewing

i'd get the LCD because i think big ass RPTVs look like they should come with a trucker hat with mullet attached.

1980's where Front projection TV's.... :)

90's where Rear projection, and Later 90's/2000's where Plasma/LCD

agreed  if you can deal with the weight and power consumption IMO the picture is much nicer than LCDs in that price range.

I saw those Sony oleds at gitex in 2007 and they sucked. The blue leds die quickly and the screen is only 19". shite.

it looks like oled failed before it started.

OLED is still young. Give her 2-3 years at most.

Review of the Sony XEL-1 OLED television:
http://www.pocket-lint.co.uk/reviews/re ... d-tv.phtml

The review is wrong about it not being HD ready, though, from the tech specs on the Sony site it is, it's just 960x540, half the proper res of 1080p, but it still displays from all HD sources.

displaying from a hd source does not make it hd ready.

i could reroute my vhs to a hd input. screenquality will still suck.
960x540 does not HD make.

and i concur, 11" rofl

The big thing at IBC this year was Stereoscopic 3D TVs.
It only confirmed for me however that with my fucked right eye, it doesn't work.
I also can't see the general public being patient enough to wear special glasses every time they want to watch the telly.
