check out hardwaregrowler if you have growl installed. it pops a little message when things get connected, mounted, burned, etc.

quicksilver is a sweet app too.

MacBook Pro is nice but a bit too big for my taste :p I'm going to order the new 2.4 GHz MacBook with 4 GB of RAM next week. My employer participates in the Apple EPP, so I pretty much get the RAM upgrade for free. It would be the first time that I'm going back to Apple since I had the very first Macintosh back in 1984. I will probably just use Boot Camp and put WinXP on there. I've been thinking whether I should use it for work as well, since my cheap-ass employer isn't in a hurry to replace the crappy laptop they gave me :disgust: Also, I'm going to pick up an iPhone 3G at the same time :)

Yea I have hardwaregrowler and growltunes setup. I passed quicksilver the first time but every single person tells me to get it so I guess I'll give it a try.

I've got so used to using Quicksilver, I find it hard using Macs that don't have it installed.

On the same site, there's also a really nifty little Terminal mod that makes it behave like the Quake command line, so that when you press a key, the terminal comes down. It's called "Visor".

If you're using your laptop with another computer at your desk, "Synergy" will allow you to share keyboard and mouse between computers and is multiplatform.

I'm hoping to have my desktop phased out by the end of the week and work solely off the laptop for a single workspace no matter my location.

Found a really nice SVN app, http://www.versionsapp.com/

Been having some fun with candybar. Starting to look pretty sexy. Songbird owns the shit out of itunes too.

How about a good ftp client? cyberduck is annoying.

FileZilla.

Colloquy IRC client so you can hang out with the rest of us on IRC.

Oh, you may also want to install Evernote. Just drag and drop photos, notes, web pages, PDF files, etc. and it will automatically index everything for fast search retrieval. It will actually read text info off of images and index those words too. For example, take a photo of a business card, drop the photo into Evernote, and search for it later by the name on the card in the photo.

nifty app huh, CandyBar? I used Songbird, but I think it's bloatware. Dunno, I just prefer iTunes, even with all it's bad things

And let's not forget Fetch, that's still what I use. Mostly out of habit.
