All about the Samsung
Re: So Blu-ray...
i wouldn't touch a sony screen with your cock, nevermind mine.
panasonic LCDs are getting rave reviews at the moment and the s8 range of sammies still rule in terms of HD IQ, just not so good on SD which is where the panasonic seems to do well.
in terms of colour and IQ the samsung is very, very good and beats the sony range hands down.

Kind of - It never really happened - just like the TV

Re: So Blu-ray...
sony use a mix of LG and Samsung panel. their bravia engine is good and up scaling is fantastic, yet they seemed to of failed in the HD IQ area.
Re: So Blu-ray...
when you're looking now you can't rule out a panasonic
Re: So Blu-ray...
the A9 series are very fine tvs, the IQ is great and i love the subtle finish in the border of the tv. replaced my old philips 52 pfl 9703d wit the 55A9 and the quality jump is enourmouse (in HD)
as for the hole 100-200hz nonsense.. at the end you will watch youre BD @24p so 100,120 or 200hz capabilities won't matter at all
rather check how good youre choosen tv can output 24p and youre set

Re: So Blu-ray...
100hz only really counts if you have a shit HD player or you watch lots of SD
Re: So Blu-ray...
my tv is awesome I do tcare what you say. color is great, features are great. I use 120hz all the time. I like the way it looks. I watched side by side next to samsung....anyone who can notice some subtle difference enough that it would bother them...especially when you get it home and you have nothing to compare it against...I say liar, liar.....pants on fire.
Re: So Blu-ray...
tbh though samsungs are decent tvs. the comparable model to the Sony Z could stream video from your pc. while the Sony just does pics and music. maybe they will impliment it in a future firmware update.
I've always had a Sony tv and never had any problems with any. So I stick with what's been reliable.

Re: So Blu-ray...
good sound on the sony's, shite on the sammy. i use a 5.1 so no matter.
the sony's do look nice, i like the matte look which is the way sammies are going now after s8. you're right about the small difference, it is getting to the pixel peep stage.

pioneer is the king of plasmas
Re: So Blu-ray...
like shaft said, it's getting to the point where you choose which style you like.
also, good advanced control on sony's if you know what you're doing.

Re: So Blu-ray...
if you are satisfied with youre tv then its ok. but taste is different, you say you use 120hz all the time, which is an odd thing for me personally, as i can't stand the soap effect you get on every lcd tv with that, the interpolated images make movies look like cheap tv productions imho.shaft wrote:my tv is awesome I do tcare what you say. color is great, features are great. so for me 100hz+ is an overrated feature, you for example, like. different tastes.
i know after i jumped on the led backlit train, i won't be satisfied with a ccfl backlit unit ever again. the high end phillips
got very good reviews one year back, but it was a huge dissapointment for me, in every aspect except sd tv.. and that on a 52". my gf loved the set and couldn't see all the flaws i pointed out.
it like with dlp beamer, i can't stand the rainbow effect and i know alot of people who doesn't notice or doesnt care.
don't rush youre descision, take sometime to check back and forth. there is no perfect tv. you need to know what you want to use it for, and then make a descision based on youre using habits.
