File names got screwed up somehow
Re: File names got screwed up somehow
Tried running checkdisk?
I've seen a similar problem on a server 2003 box running Blackberry for Exchange. We never pinned down the issue but a reboot seemed to fix it.
This could certainly be caused by a virus as well. If you have the change, take the drive out and have it scanned on a friend's PC with an up-to-date av scanner. Probably worth investing in a USB caddy just for this purpose if all else fails.
One other idea - check the folder using DIR from a command prompt. See if the file names look the same there.
Also download TweakUI powertoy and check the menu where you can rebuild icon cache. There might be one in there for fixing file names too.

I had that happen with my OCZ Rally2 flash drive. It was corrupting files like crazy when I would transfer large amounts of data. It would often corrupt files that weren't even part of the transfer. You probably won't even be able to delete them until you let check disk "fix" them.
OCZ support had me try some stuff with the drive, but ended telling me to RMA it.
