You would figure after the first game being an experiment in controlling a character in a rich 3d world that they'd have evolved to something a little more standard and useful instead of sticking to the old layout that was nothing more than a first attempt.
RE4 was like the best game ever, regardless of the fact that you can't run backwards. I never even thought about how fucking stupid that was until now.
its pretty meh. much like odium said (gasp), its almost exactly the same as RE4. now, while RE4 is pretty good, i kinda expected a bit more on a true nextgen system.
i'd rather have a helpless dumb AI sidekick than an active one, too. this whore gets in the way all the time regardless of combat.
and, they did implement a quickinventory system, but you still have to click A 3 times before you actually ready the fucking item.
i know a demo wont say much of the flow of the full game, but im kinda expecting them to copycat RE4's gameflow.. even the first scene is the same. town with people who dont seem all that hostile, some guy tells them ooga booga, they all get fucked and start attacking you. hold off till clocktowerbell rings (re4) or chopper flies over and blows open the gate (re5).

feedback, did you like re4 more than mgs3? i know that they are hardly comparable, but i remember you liking mgs3 a lot. i tend to compare them a lot because i played the two games back to back. re4 got kind of boring to me...very monotonous and killing doods felt like the same thing over and over again. its still a fine game though.

I don't know... MGS 3 was an amazing game in the story dept. and presentation, though the gameplay itself was a little rough at times. RE4 is a blast straight up, though I've replayed both so many times I can't count, I might have played RE4 more times. RE4 replay was about trying different guns, and doing hardcore difficulty.

we'll see i guess. so far, meh
I haven't played the demo yet, so how does it hold up on it's own rather than compared to RE4? Would it be worth it getting the full game or is it just plain rubbish?
i think playing it in co-op will eliminate the knife-in-the-thigh that is the AI partner.
if youve played Gears and such 3rd person shooters, this will feel like playing it with broken thumbs. if you can get over that it should be pretty good tho.
if youve played RE4 over and over again there wont be any problem. I've beat RE4 about 3 times i think, but that was years ago, and in the past several years third person games have evolved to a much more fluent gaming expierence than RE5 offers in it current state. which is my biggest gripe.
