Problem with started up after xp updates
Problem with started up after xp updates
I installed the xp updates that pop up from time to time and then restarted, now my desktop is in a perpetual restart. It gets to the windows splash screen with the little blue bar, and then restarts on it's own. I have no idea how to fix this... help?
thx

i also had this problem and it was a worm not letting any startup option using "F5 or F8 prior to windows splash screen" to start.
the worm broke any safety measures windows had for booting.
you could try F5 or F8 though and see if any option allows you to boot normally.

Re: Problem with started up after xp updates
welp i reinstalled windows with the disc that came with it, now it's totally fucked just like my laptop. can't even get it to get on the net, let alone recognize the ethernet port. BOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I tried opening firefox to see if that is still intact, but it opens like it was just installed. None of my bookmarks or settings are there when it opens!!!!!!!!! WTF
This is so frustrating. I am quite lost because even if I wipe the hard drive wont the next install of windows yield the same results?

Remove the harddrive and connect it to another computer, take the files off of it that you would like to keep..
pop the HDD back into the lappie then pop in the recovery CD , Boot that "recovery" cd... format everything ( MBR, Partition, etc ) then load windows.
Then transfer the shiet through the network.
its a nasty little fucker,

Right now I have the laptop working from the right recovery disc that was sent to me, although I don't know how I would connect the desktop hdd to the laptop. I think I am going to have to deal with the desktop when I get back.
Also, if I had a file that had all my FF bookmarks, how would I have a fresh FF install recognize that? Also where is the bookmark file even located? I had a shitoad of bookmarks that I really don't want to lose.
