Unfortunately you can't create Lvl 20 PvE characters anymore, so we'll have two Welshies "Gwlad, gwlad, pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad"ing in pre-searing Ascalon.
I'm quite familiar with that area btw, so I can help you power through there.
Just to clarify: pre-searing Ascalon is the starting area which is fairly small and limiting in terms of party size not to mention things to do (missions and whatnot). It's designed to be a tutorial for new players but it can get to be tedious if you're not into obsessive compulsive exploration (which, incidentally, I've done all over that area). Fortunately, there's really only a few things you really HAVE to do there, so if we hit those first we can be in and out of there in ~2 hours or so.

Some Guild Wars goodies right before the weekend. First, there's a new gameplay video up on the site (34 MB).
Second, check out some of the recent changes:
I'm assuming you see this when you unlock a new skill:

You can now choose which district you want to end up in when travelling using the map:

The equipping screen looks a bit different:

The new chat interface, notable changes include a chat filter (useful for eliminating emote spam), plus a channel devoted to trading:

The ability to set your status:

The original poster did that for some reason. Probably to hide his character's name so he doesn't get chat spammed by thousands of people this weekend during the beta. The guy is probably an alpha tester and got permission to release a few screenshots of the new UI. People know he's an alpha and would bug the shit out of him if they knew his character's name. Just a guess.

Quite a few people seem to be having the same problem... lemme find you a link, maybe a solution will get posted there.
Quick thought... GW shouldn't be acting as a TCP/IP service, but check anyway. Add it to your SP2 firewall exceptions.
Not too much help here, but ...

[size=75][i]I once had a glass of milk.
It curdled, and then I couldn't drink it. So I mixed it with some water, and it was alright again.
I am now sick.

Beta's were fun. Can't wait for the entire game. Here's a few screenies, mostly me and U4EA messing around dancing while waiting around.

One for U4EA; Swifty mixed purple and green and got this:

That actually looks better than black applied to the same armour.

[!] BTW Mat, this is the group I eventually ended up finishing the Gates of Kryta mission with for the second time. However, at the massive undead battle at the end, the same thing happened as what happened when I completed it with you: everyone died except for me and one R/Mo. This guy was a secondary Monk but his healing output was so damn massive. Me and that guy killed the entire army on our own. I think he was using "Marksman's Wager" or something cause he kept me from dying against like 10+ mobs not to mention the spawning minions. I used "For Great Justice" (permanently on my bar now) and "Hundred Blades" for adrenaline, "Flurry" for attack speed, "Sever Artery" for DoT, and "Galrath Slash" & "Final Thrust" for massive damage. That battle went on for at least 2-3 minutes though it felt like ages. You can imagine we were well chuffed when we actually won at the end. Loving playing as a tank :icon14:
Ima try tracking down that dye mixing software. Wonder how functional it is. Would be cool if they allowed you to mix it on different armors and displayed accurate results.

My final skill line up was:
"For Great Justice!". Never leaves my bar. I've tried the alternatives, but all of them have too many strings attached. FGJ just does what you need it to.
Penetrating Blow - 50% penetration, added to my 12 Strength, meaning 62% penetration. Not too shabby.
Eviscerate - Elite, does a load of extra damage and lowers target's maximum health by 20% for 20 seconds.
Executioner's Strike - I think this was striking for ~36 extra damage at 13 Axe skill.
Cyclone Axe / Swift Chop - it's a difficult choice. Cyclone struck all adjacent enemies (adrenaline++) for an extra 14 damage, whereas Swift Chop was striking a single target for an extra 17 damage. The bonus with Swift Chop was that if the enemy attempted to block or dodge it, it would do an additional 17 damage and cause a deep wound. I think in the long run I'll build with cyclone in mind, as the adrenaline gain is too significant to ignore, and it does a lot of damage to a lot of enemies very quickly.
Shield Stance - this was giving me 18 seconds of 75% chance to block all incoming blows (arrows OR melee) whilst reducing my movement (NOT attack) speed by 33%. Most stances end if you use another skill, but not Shield Stance, so the speed penalty is worth it.
"I will avenge you!" - After that episode on Gates of Kryta, this only leaves my skillset if I'm soloing (when I swap it out with Sprint). VERY hard to time and use effectively, but when it works, by GOD do I kick arse. For each dead ally in the local area, I was getting 10 seconds of increased attack speed and +6 stacking health regen.
Rebirth is my only monk skill, and I figure a ranged teleporting res is a lot more useful than one that puts me in danger.
Regarding axes, according to the floating text in game, each point of Axe, as well as increasing accuracy and damage, increases the chance of a critical hit, which probably explains why my damage output was so high. I think a critical hit is at maximum potential damage for your weapon, not sure.
