Re: PHOTOS PLEASE
Just wondering - is there a reason people strip the exif data out of their pictures or is it just the result of editing software?
Re: PHOTOS PLEASE
Some dicks strip, some is striped when you combine images.
Don't you just hate it?

I'm sure this was asked but which glass are you using for macro? And, NS.ForM wrote:I just like the cool colors.
Re: PHOTOS PLEASE
Was out today to take some pictures of the frost covered trees and went up on to a prairie that is being developed (raped pretty much). Found a spot that hadn't been yet and as I got out of the car, I saw a bald eagle on top of a tree. I didn't have time to set up for a good shot as I had to dig out the zoom lens, put it on, etc. This first one was taken from probably 100-150 feet away so it isn't a great shot at all, but it was cool to see the bird.

It flew away a few seconds later and I grabbed one shot of that, again, not a well focused effort.

I wish these were higher quality pictures. I will be renting a nice zoom lens to go try some more wildlife - maybe tomorrow. Still felt pretty good to stumble across a chance like this.
I drove from there to a state park (big river, rocks, all that crap) and saw another bald eagle circling over the river for about 15 minutes. It was probably 1000 feet away, so my zoom lens really didn't do justice to how impressive the bird was, but I'll post those pics later anyhow.
What's the most opportune photo opportunity you ever had? (i.e. big fire, crash, rare wildlife, some crazy insect, nude beach...)

Re: PHOTOS PLEASE
Looks like something out of a film TNF. If it was in focus it would be astoundingly beautiful (second one)
Re: PHOTOS PLEASE
Trying out a polarizing filter.

Re: PHOTOS PLEASE
Yea, I need to set one of those up. I also need some way to keep track of all my photos on the computer. I didn't think it would be that big of an issue, but trying to come up with the optimal file/folder scheme to categorize and store things isn't as easy as I thought it would be, especially as I build up so many damn pictures of random stuff.
Re: PHOTOS PLEASE
Do what I do, store em all on a separate hard drive, slaved. Then use others as you fill it up and keep em all.
people are always tossing computers and I rip the hard drives out and keep them, just for storage.
And the tree pic with the polarizer looks dammed decent.

Good idea. I think I've got an old 60 gig drive around somewhere.ForM wrote:Do what I do, store em all on a separate hard drive, slaved. Then use others as you fill it up and keep em all.

Re: PHOTOS PLEASE
New one from me that I entered in to a competition titled "It was Inside" with a ring flash covered in 2 layers of, would you believe, medical gauze?
One layer still left flash rings and 3 left it too dark to even look at, but surprisingly 2 layers worked perfectly to keep all the flash down to a minimum.
The result of a lot of experimentation of diffusing............I'm very happy with this lighting set up.

I'm sure a lot of you are wondering......... Here is the un-diffused lighting. Its a world of difference.

Re: PHOTOS PLEASE
what sort of flash do you have for your XTI form?
Also, when I am using the polarizing filter on the zoom lens (50-250) and am fully zoomed, I get slight dark circle shadows on the corners of the image, like the lens filter is casting a shadow. Has anyone else experienced this and is there a way to deal with it?

Ill answer your last question with a question......
Are you using the lens hood or did you not buy one?
Answer to the first question...

No lens hood.
Re: PHOTOS PLEASE
Here are the other eagle pics I got - I was lucky, stumbled across the one eagle in a place where you would not expect one, then saw one at a different location (but it was about 1000 feet away.) This is the best my lens could do.

Another bird flew into the area and the two seemed to pass pretty close. I was hoping they would fight to the death in the air in a first time thing for humans to observe, but that didn't happen. Edit - Apparently this other bird is an immature bald eagle, probably offspring of the one here.

Here is the area I took the picture from - the eagle was across the river and up towards the houses on the cliffside. I am standing in the same spot here as I was for those eagle pics.
