Anyone passing through here playing with Windows 7?
Just wondering on impressions that sort of thing.. I downloaded a while ago and honesty didn't think anymore about it 'til the other day.
I suppose I am asking you that have it, do I bother, is it worth a look?
Windows 7
Re: Windows 7
I went to install a copy of xp pro on a friends comp... fer some reason
, it installed Windows 7 instead. (must be a faulty xp disk
). Anyway, it seems to be flawless fer everyday surfing and media use.

Peenyuh: Windows 7 is in open beta status, so it's not warez or anything, no reason to be coy. That said, it expires sometime in July-August, so you'll have to do a reinstallation of some other OS for your "friend" when the time comes.
Whiskey 7: I've been running it on my netbook and it runs remarkably fine on relatively basic specs (Intel Atom N270, 1.5GB RAM, Intel 945GSE graphics, 120GB HDD). However, it does freeze on me once in a long while, usually from doing something like coming back out from stand-by, though being a beta, it's quite forgivable.
A lot of the bothersome features of Vista has been toned down, like UAC. New task bar dock thing is kind of neat. Driver support is great since most Vista drivers will work fine with it.
If you're interested in this kind of stuff and have a spare box, install it and play around with it, it's worth the look. If you intend on installing it on your main computer, don't bother, it expires in a few months and rumour has it that Win7 will be out as early as September.

Re: Windows 7
I've been using it as well. No problems. I'll probably get it when it comes out. Everything I've tried with it seems to work without any hitches. Still checking the new stuff out in it, but I'm satisfied so far.
Btw, I've heard RC1 should be out around April.

Re: Windows 7
i'm running it on my second box, but not my new one. i have a key for the 64bit version and am seeking a copy of that since you can no longer download em. :/
Re: Windows 7
It wasn't the W7 that I was being coy about. Possibly the xp?obsidian wrote:Peenyuh: Windows 7 is in open beta status, so it's not warez or anything, no reason to be coy. Anyways. I just thought it was wierd how it installed the beta instead of the "questionable" xp.
