When I first saw my car it had 125K miles. I was like, man I'm never gonna buy this car, but the guy was pretty trustfull and he said: '"I know it has allot of mileage, I can't blame you if you hesitate, but just take it for a drive".

Well I drove it and I bought it immediately. It drove smoothely like it had only 50k miles or something, I still pulled strong and it was in mint condition.

Also, BMW engines are know to last long. Ofcourse I had some problems with stuff like the waterpump and the radiator, but untill this day I have never had any problems with the clutch, transmission or the engine.

You're right, it isn't allot and engines are not made to die after 125k miles, would be rather stupid. But you know consumers...(me)

125,000 miles is fucking loads. 30,000 is low mileage.

Do they have M.O.T's in america? The fact that Americans are happy with such high mileage shitheaps makes me think they don't

Over here, unless you're an expert on car mechanics, or you just like taking huge stupid risks, you wouldn't buy a car with anything near 100.

really? you are lucky to find a used car under 100k around here. went to the dealership recently and most cars were just over 110k. and those are 2001+

Maybe because you people destroy cars.. :icon25:
[size=75][i]I once had a glass of milk.

It curdled, and then I couldn't drink it. So I mixed it with some water, and it was alright again.

I am now sick.

That's true, however my dad did have a Citroen which had 193,000 miles and it was still running good, apart from the fact the gear box blew up a few weeks ago; which for a car at nearly 200,000 miles theirs no point spending £50 for a new one. Also have a Peugeot 405 STDT which is at 130,000 and theres nothing wrong with that. The fact that he's a semi-mechanic (doesn't do it full-time; just for himself/me/friends) usually means he doesn't pick up things which are dropping to pieces.

Generally it's (as SOAPboy kindly mentioned) it's because of half of the idiots who trash the car which is why they don't make 100k+.

But also remember our road conditions are much tougher than yours; most roads over there are straight and large, over here there small and windy. Around where I live theres lots of country roads; roads which are barely wide enough for 1 car, usually full of trees and often mud and wet leaves and can really fuck up a car if you're not careful. And yet these roads are still set at a 60mph speed limit.
