Drummers and musicians alike...(or just music fans)

Post by CaseDogg »

Please tell me what you think of this guys drummer. I think he's fuckin amazing. He makes it look so easy, never even brakes a sweat.

Definite talent. It's probably very difficult to not push the transitions when playing this fast, but I like it. Is there a better recording of this guy? I'd like to hear the full set, rather than just the snare.

Yeah, I hear that. It's just that it sounds like it was recorded with one mike sitting in his lap. I bet it sounds sick in a concert setting.

Blast beat, double bass Blast beat, double bass Blast beat, double bass Blast beat, double bass Blast beat, double bass Blast beat, double bass Blast beat, double bass Blast beat, double bass.. I could go on. But yeah, certainly takes hours and hours of dedication
to get that kind of speed and precision down, if blast beats is your thing.

My old drum teacher on the other hand shows musicianship way beyond that.

Had to crank this one up. As the kids say these days: "That shit's TIGHT".

Don't want to be a party pooper here, but I find the video Drum posted a lot more impressive than the break-neck speed drummer Case posted.

Rhythmically, Gavin Harrison is doing some really complex stuff and while the other dude is really quick and accurate, rhythmically, it's not really interesting to listen to. It's just fast. Nothing more.

edit:
here's a better quality video of what Drum posted by the way:

edit2:
Here's another Gavin Harrison video. It may seem a lot less impressive than the crazy fast drumming of the first guy, but it's just incredible drumming on display there.

I agree with Drum and Eraser here, while the crazy "let's do 32nd notes as fast as I can" may sound more impressive, it's just very linear and not that interesting. The rhythmic wizardry of Gavin is more interesting and impressive to me.

ah but thats just death metal type drumming...many of those blast beat drummers can play other styles, and just as nice as their blast beats...it's just not appropriate for what they r doing...can gavin do blast beats like that? doubt it...could vitek (rip) play like gavin?...easily...

nope i never said blast beats owns all...i just think it's funny how dumb asses try to compare bb with other drumming styles and say bb drummers are inferior becuz they lack this or that, when in reality many of them can play whatever said style of drumming morons think r superior...on the other hand all these superior drummers can't play blast beats...lol
in other words...i have seen blast beat drummers play jazz, rock even marching band crap...they don't make fun of other drumming styles...they incorporate them...
then there r morons like u who can't play blast beats...when they first hear a blast beat they think it can't possibly be real...and then just bash it...
out of fear and ignorance i guess...

basically ur mad u can't do it...i bet ur double bass is pathetic...
