Doom 3 / Quake 4 texture sets

Does anybody know of some free high quality texture sets for Doom 3 or Quake 4?

I'm looking for some interesting textures that come with normalmaps, but it seems there's few of those around or I missed them.

I only know of these: 1,2 by irishlostboy.

eX Texture Set by evillair comes to my mind.

Edit: flesjflwkejf, evillair of course. Dunno what came into my mind while writing that... :paranoid:

Not for D3/Q4, but, if what you are looking for is sets with normal/specular maps, there are a few here:

Thanks guys! Hipshot, the one from PhilipK is an excellent texture set I haven´t seen anywhere before.

Here is a Doom3/Quake4 compatible texture pack from Irishlostboy:

Well, I think Philip K is one of the best texture artists I know.

I just noticed there unfortunately is a problem with PhilipK´s texture set: on the normal maps the z/y axis is reversed, so they don´t work how they are supposed to do in Doom3/Quake4 :tear:

I knew about it, and got ubberexcited when I found it too. The diffuse maps and the normalmaps of his pack are both superb on their own. But, unfortunately, they aren't really working well together. It looks like the typical case of having a excellent texture set which gets added normalmaps afterwards (this happens to many free sets around, like EvilLair's eX :/ ). The diffuses have volume shadows painted on them that counteract the bumpmapping breaking the ilusion of volume. I guess that's why he made them free. In general, good diffusemaps rarely look good on their own.

Open the normalmap in photoshop, go into the green channel, image->adjust->invert. Voilá, you got a y-axis inverted normalmap.

Thanks for the photoshop workaround, jal_! Works great, I didn´t knew it was that easy.

Yes, I see what you mean with the diffuse maps. It´s not exactly shadows painted in like on a regular texture, but they are generally a bit too contrast heavy (with white higlights and so on). Needs some photosphop retouching as well.
