Best mod for dial-up (split from sticky)
Best mod for dial-up (split from sticky)
I gotta question, out of all the different mods and custom levels he linked up there , if you only played 1 player q3 becuase you had dial up which would be the best to download. keeping in mind I have a bunch of ctf maps already.

InstaUnlagged. It compensates for lag, which you'll have a-plenty on dial-up.

• Head Hunters Classic was good, but that's 1.17 point release and below only. (You can get a point release switcher though. The only trouble is 1.17 doesn't have pmove_fixed as an option.)
• Classic Quake Arena
• Lost Arena - not really a mod cause it doesn't change the gameplay but it's still good to try
• OSP - might be worth getting cause I use it combined with Lost Arena to play the Lost Arena maps offline. (Add the main OSP pk3s to the Lost Arena folder.)
• Generations Arena - not sure how much fun this'll be for you oneplayer but it has a lot of weapons to play with (different ones for each player class) and it is designed with DM in mind. N.B. this mod is a massive download for dial-up.
• Ultra Freeze Tag (I think this works oneplayer, can't remember)
• Requiem
• Berilium
Playing oneplayer offline when you have dial-up is fine, but you should still play online every now and then. If you find that people don't want a high pinger on their team or don't want to play 1v1 vs one, just play FFA

I agree with ^misantropia^...instagib mods. Normal Q3's projectiles when online slow things way down, and half of the time they lagg you out. Instagib is the only option...well at least it has been for me..well, plus r_vertexlight 1, r_picmip 8, com_blood 0, cg_forcemodel 1

Note that unlagged does not actually make things unlagged.
It just shifts the criteria of server-side judgement, that is to say, more generous to high pingers or the high lagged and less to lower people.
In the world of unlagged low pingers often claim that "Impossible! Why?" though the exact same thing true of high pingers, of course.
And please stop changing your font color within the scope of the same topic because it is very confusing, ...... you know.
