I've got phpbb3 and mysql5 running on my godaddy package. It's like $5 a month.

You are mistaken. Quake3world is not going down. We can look forward to many years of fantastic hosting provided by IGN.

Where will we go from here? If people say they wouldn't miss this place at least a bit they are full of shit. I won't miss it though.

WE ARE KILLING THE AMERICANS IN THEIR TANKS RIGHT NOW. He was kind of right though, once the army got out of the way and the civilians started fighting they did start handing out some tough losses.

DooMer to the rescue! (He probably knows we're fuct, but doesn't want to cause a panic. So he comes in and assures us we'll be ok, when in reality we don't have a prayer. Sound familiar? Governments...)

i'm inclined to trust doomer; crisis over.

would be a bit daft to close this place anyway given that q3 is supposed to be getting new life from quakelive being out.

companies are always doing things that aren't in their best interest... so closing q3w could always happen. it would be nice if we could strike a deal with gamespy where they would point quake3world.com to a server we host and maintain, and in return we'd post a gamespy banner at the top of the page and agree that users not post nudity and other bad stuff, etc.

if this place were to shut down then i'd most likely not stay on at another forum that someone hosted... it just wouldn't be q3w.

but if this can't happen and q3w dies... then that's life.

Can one of you geniuses please point out to me where it says this place is on the chopping block?

If this place is not going under, I insist that o'dium please not post on this entire forum again until AFTER this site has gone down permanently.
^ what i was saying.

the userhosted sites are one thing, ign gives ftp accounts to any mong who makes a logo through a nifty photoshop tutorial.
q3w is one of their main sites, and while usermaintained, not usercreated.

in conclusion, fu all, especially iceman

Why would we even need to make a deal to point to another site? Just make a sticky thread or mass-email everybody beforehand.

Yeah I got one of these notices too for the Forge (which I haven't touched in years, but whatever). Prompted me to kind of take a look back here to see what the reaction was. Would kind of suck if this place did end up going down finally.

PS. Hi. What's it been? 5 years since I posted last? :P

Oh, btw, I was wrong. This will indeed effect q3w. I have the new server all ready, just waiting to see if I can get the domain name, or if they will point it to the new site.
