I've seen you somewhere before. Can't remember. Anyway, try QTracker.

Hi,

Another game browser (IMO better than QTracker) is GameScanner, you can find it here:

Judging by the fact that you mention MPlayer, I think your problem is more that you're running an old version of Q3. You probably should download and install the 1.32 point release, and install that.

MPlayer closed their service about 8 years ago, and I am pretty sure id removed it from the menus in the next point release after that.

(Any external server browser would be better than the internal one though, so probably worth getting one as well as updating Q3 - I of course recommend mine, MAXBrowse ;) )

Server protocol errors mean that you're running a different version of Q3 to the server.

If you've updated to 1.32, you should probably make sure that your serverbrowser is also only showing you 1.32 servers (sadly there are people playing at least 3 different versions - 1.32, 1.31, and 1.16n, and probably more.... the majority are on 1.32 I believe though).

Your next issue after you've sorted that is probably going to be that you dont have the maps / mods that you need.

Have you heard about QuakeLive? If not, you might want to check it out, as many Q3 players have switched over, and there are a whole bunch of new players too, so you're much more likely to get a game.

Maybe you were on protocol 43 which is full of noghost servers. If it is, you can switch version using version switcher. I used to play there all the time, I accidently upgraded to version 1.32 and never played it for about 2 years until I found this .. http://q3eu.com/site/modules.php?name=C ... page&pid=2
