yeah maybe its just the wii, but like on beats where u have to hit a dotted quarter note on the snare u have to hit it just a tad earlier than u would playing actual drums...this doesn't happen with guitar hero...

That's really, really good. The kid's quite coordinated. You should have him spend less time on the video game and more time on the real thing.
My son is 8 and he doesn't show much interest in video games or music. He likes to build things with legos and play sports like soccer. I'd really like to see him take interest in a musical instrument, but I don't want to push it on him.
