Gangs Of New York = 7/10 - Interesting flick with good performances yet felt like it was plodding along until the last half hour. At 2 hours 40 minutes, it suffered from being too long. Other than that the editing was great.

Angels And Demons = 6/10 - Yet another entirely predictable, over-rated POS from the author of The Da Vinci Code. A really boring movie and not worth watching unless you absolutely loved The Da Vinci Code.

Watchmen = 8.5/10 - Nicely done. Never read the comic so I have no reason to be disappointed. Eye-candy with substance. The Nixon makeup was hilarious.

The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency - 6/10

Saw the full length pilot for the mini series. Music and photo was very nice, showing off Botswana at it's best, but that was also my main complaint. On the other hand, no one really takes note of the overly idyllic England of Agatha Cristie, so I guess Alexander McCall Smith has the right to be allowed the same treatment.

Adaptation - Nicolas Cage turns in one of his rare good performances.
Apaloosa - Mediocre. Gains a bit of favour for introducing Mudcrutch.
Angels & Demons - Entirely watchable but nothing special.

I used to watch Commando and Predator constantly as a kid. I used to (and still do) think Bennett is the gayest Arnold movie villain of all time. I also love Sully. Man Commando rules.
This line only remake is total rubbish I've ever seen!!! Fuck off!!! --CZghost

Jet Li's The Enforcer (English dub).
Watch this cause it's a Jet Li film and it's an undercover police thriller that's not generic.

Two Lovers - 8/10 for the genre

Joaquin Phoenix was the man for this role being the weirdo that he is and to boot, he executed it perfectly which made for an outstanding performance. Matter of fact all involved played their roles convincingly, and that gave it a genuine feel.

The storyline even though cringe worthy, couldn't be truer to life. Human nature at its most honest form, was put on display here.

Definitely worth a viewing.

Public Enemies - 8/10
Good acting, good period setting, good gangster movie.

The Hangover - 7/10
Much better than I was expecting and actually rather funny.

Drag Me to Hell - 7/10
Well executed Sam Raimi movie.

Grandma's Boy = 6.5/10 - Typical "Happy Madison" claptrap with some really funny moments.

Miss March = 2/10 - There is pretty much nothing I can say about this movie other than it sucked.

The God Who Wasn't There = 6/10 - A documentary showcasing the myth of Jesus Christ. It doesn't present too much new information and the horrible music really detracted from the project. If you've seen Zeitgeist then you don't need to see this.

Dr. Strangelove = 10/10

So, I've finally gotten around to watching this. I loved it. Sat through the entire movie with an incredulous "holy shit this isn't really going to happen, is it?" look. Despite the military disclaimer in the opening sequence saying they have checks to make sure it can't. Not hilarious in a haha sort of way, but it made me smile. I didn't care much for the eponymous character, IMO Sellers was best as the president speaking to his Russian counterpart over the phone.

"Hello? Hello, Dimitri? Listen, I can't hear too well, do you suppose you could turn the music down just a little? Oh, that's much better. Yes. Fine, I can hear you now, Dimitri. Clear and plain and coming through fine. I'm coming through fine too, eh? Good, then. Well then as you say we're both coming through fine. Good. Well it's good that you're fine and I'm fine. I agree with you. It's great to be fine."

I suppose another good thing is, I finally get all the pop culture references to precious bodily fluids.

The Machinist, again, last night.
Saw it before, but because I forgot the crux somehow, decided to watch it again.
Definitely worth it, if only to witness, with some horror, Bale's dedication to his role.

The Last of the Mohicans - 10/10 - A classic masterpiece with an amazing score and stunning shots of North Carolina. It's also Michael Mann's only great film.

The Myth - 3/10 - Chinese Jackie Chan movie with some enjoyable fight stunts that got bogged down with way too much weak CGI, people flying, and a confusing plot.

Drag Me To Hell - 2/10 - Absolutely laughable and predictable horror movie that failed in an attempt to be "clever".

Transformers 2 - 1/10 - One of the worst films I've ever had the displeasure of seeing.

Tommy Boy - 9/10 - Both Chris Farley and David Spade's finest film; RIP you fat, hilarious man

Disturbia - 7/10 - Surprisingly decent with some good plot twists, even with you-know-who in the lead.

Wild Hogs - 5/10
Reindeer Games - 5/10
Suspect Zero - 6/10
Pineapple Express - 8/10

The Life of Brian 10/10

One of the best Monty Python movies by far. If you love satire and want to see "The Church" get mocked into oblivion, WATCH THIS.

Dog Day Afternoon = 6/10 - This was supposed to be one of the best movies Al Pacino ever worked in....and I disagree. Pacino's performance was adequate but the actual movie itself was quite boring.

Duplicity = wank/10 - fuck off. It's getting to the point where I'm about to refuse to see any movie with Julia Roberts in it. Miss Horseteeth is more one-dimensional than Will Smith and should just give up acting. This film runs in circles only to fizzle out to a pointless ending.

Race To Witch Mountain = POS/10. Why I let myself get talked into watching this I'll never know.

I'd recommend you change the channel. Running Man is quite possibly Arnie's worst movie. The book was far more interesting and entertaining than the movie...which had almost nothing to do with the book's story other than the title and the premise.

Yea, Running Man has some of Arnie's worst one-liners.

What do you think of Total Recall?

Watching the Bourne Identity now while I am doing some work.

Total Recall was awesome and it's a sad, sad thing that they want to remake it.

The worst one-liners from The Running Man were:

- "Hey Killian! Here's Sub-Zero. Now...plain Zero."

- "I live to see you eat that contract. But I hope you leave enough room for my fist because I'm going to ram it into your stomach...and break your goddamned spine! Hurgagh!"

lol

I firmly believe they used Arnie's ad-libbed takes for those ones.

that's sacrilege! Commando is a classic action movie...for those days when heroes could be bigger than life and tht was acceptable.
don't get me wrong - schwarzeneggar is awesome and frankly, without him, that movie would have lost its last reason for existing. it's just the sheer weight of action hero movie cliches that are piled on: the atrocious lines ("what are you expecting?" "WORLD WAR THREE"), the near-fatal events that leave people only slightly scratched, the annoyingly cutesy alyssa milano in denim turnups and pink high-tops, the combat vets who mysteriously get mowed down easily near the beginning, general kirby and his mcdonalds drive-thru window headgear, the 1980s everyone-is-an-utter-asshole ambience. strangely, watching it again, i found arnie suiting up for some heavy pissant soldier ass-kicking at the end the least cliched thing in the movie

seriously: conan the barbarian - THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST, and if anyone says otherwise: crush them, see them driven before you, and hear de lamentation of de vimmin

edit: from imdb trivia on conan:
Although Conan and Valeria are shown together frequently throughout the movie, he only speaks five words to her in the entire film - and they're all in the first thirty seconds after they meet: "You're not a guard", and "No".
lol, i'd never noticed that before

I've got Predator on DVD. It's still awesome today, one of my favorite flicks. The DVD extras are worth checking out too.

Pineapple Express - 6/10

sub-par stoner movie with one or two funny scenes. It was worth watching on tv but I wouldn't buy a dvd to add to my collection.

Unfortunately the transfer on the blu-ray version is craptastic. I think I got the last DVD "collector's edition" of Predator that they released 2 yrs or so ago...and the blu-ray is not appreciably better (picture wise). This is a movie that deserved a good treatment on BR and didn't get it.

:olo:

blood:the last vampire 7/10.
as horror for teenagers goes, this is pretty decent stuff. the effects are a bit crap but it's very stylish, moves quickly and takes itself seriously enough to stop you from laughing out loud at it.

a 30 second trailer for transformers 2 -millions/10.
just seeing shit the bed's ratty little face gawping out of the screen was enough to bring the horror flooding back. it's like pearl harbour with robots.
