I can't get either one of my printers to communicate with Vista. Before a couple of weeks ago I've never had a problem with it. It will also still scan from Vista. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers, the usb drivers, even ran a new Vista install. I've tried with no updates, SP1, and SP2. I've looked in the bios but couldn't find anything there. The kicker is that it works just fine with Windows 7, so I don't think it's the bios or hardware problems. The error message only states that the computer cannot communicate with the printer. I'll go back to Vista in a few and get a screenshot of that.
I've also checked to make sure the USB port was checked for the printer to use.
The hardware:
Lexmark x3550
Lexmark x2600
ASUS M4A78-E AM3/AM2+ mb
I'm sure it's a driver issue. That Lexmark error dialog is of course absolutely no help. What does it say about the printer in Control Panel > Printers?
So you were using this printer with Vista before and it worked, but now it won't? Did you install anything new lately or do any system changes?
I did change the CPU and MB a little while back, but it was working after that. And as I said, it won't work even on a brand new Vista install, no matter what stage of updates I try it at. I have installed the latest MB drivers as well. Maybe I could try going with an older set.
Control Panel says everything is ready to go with no problems. I'm starting to think there's a hidden setting in Vista that I'm missing. I think I'm going to reinstall Vista one more time and see what that does.
