The last movie you saw
Re: The last movie you saw
D9: For an action movie, pretty good, 8/10 or so.
The story had the potential to be a lot deeper and more interesting so I was initially going to rate it lower, but that would be unfair.
Edit: That was succinct after going out drinking after seeing it...
Basically I was expecting more of a Sci-Fi thriller that attacked our beliefs and proposed moral questions about how meeting other life would happen (and if it happened in this way).
Turned out to be just an action movie that slapped you in the face with "Don't treat others bad" and a human/alien supermachine. Good for an action flick.

Seul contre tous ( I stand alone ) 9/10 Directed by Gaspar Noé.... (the same guy who did Irreversible.)..
The story of a horse meat butcher who kills a man who he thinks raped his daughter...when he get out of prison, he tries to start over...
It goes from bad to worse to OMFG WTF!?!?! Kinda reminded me of falling down....but far more brutal.
The film is mostly his internal dialogue..which is raw, sometimes hilarious but mostly deeply disturbing.

A lot of people would say it's a bad idea, on your first day out of prison, to go right back to stalking the tranny hooker that knocked out five of your teeth. But that's how I roll..

I'm expecting 7zark7 to end up in the news (either rape, murder or record-setting "cunt" pronouncements) with all the fucked up movies he's been watching lately.
Re: The last movie you saw

gotta admit...been having some weird dreams lately.

Really cool movie simply because of how different it is from the usual Hollywood shit. The set design and cinematography give it a very cool, unique view of the future and the score is just incredible. The thing I liked the most is that it feels like a literal movie of a video game. You and the main character start off not knowing your name, where you are, or wtf is happening. As you progress through the linear pathways, simply wanting "out", you meet people/beings/objects along the way that teach you deeper and deeper bits of the story. All of the elements worked together to create this feeling of being totally lost in an alien world.

You just described The Neverending Story.

Carne 7/10
Gaspar Noé's short ( 38 min ) prequel to Seul contre tous ( I stand alone ) begins with the real..and disgusting..slaughter, bleeding and skinning of a horse. Then to a close up of a real birth...equally disgusting. The film gives the back story of the horse butcher, his deeply disturbing relationship with his mute daughter and the murder he commits on the day of her first period.

Cass 6/10
You'd think there are only two fucking football firms in England ...west ham and millwall..since every film about football /hooligans is about the 2...
ie: Football factory ( the book was about Chelsea, not west ham FFS) and Greenstreet (a.k.a : frodo learns to punch) ..... anyways... The story of West hams first black top boy Cass Pennant. Good story, more about racism than football. Not bad film..but nothing worth watching again.

Re: The last movie you saw
500 days of summer. One of the best movies I've seen in recent memory.
Re: The last movie you saw
watching Band of Brothers
always knew it was excellent, just never seen it before.
very high production value, all kinds of awesome.
some cliches tho, like how the battles always end with the germans fleeing in a blind panic whilst getting shot in the back, and none of them ever survives.
srsly.. it seems like the germans always flee and the yanks always press on. :[

Pretty damn good actually. I dug the gritty documentary style of the whole thing and it had a good solid plot.

Public Enemies: 8/10
I really liked it. The 30s was an awesome time and Dillinger was an accomplished scoundrel. Johnny Depp seemed a little understated in this (maybe it's because I was subconsciously comparing him to his ridiculously over the top performances in the Pirates movies). I didn't really feel he had the same kind of intensity as he's had in the past, like Donnie Brasco.
The Machinist: 6/10
The ending was a little bland, but still a decent movie I guess. Had me going in some parts. And of course, Christian Bale's dedication to the role was crazy to see.
