Obama Nobel Peace Prize winner

Obama awarded 2009 Nobel Peace Prize

Not even a year in and he won the Nobel Prize for Peace. Too soon I'd say. Why in earth the committee mentions an irrevocable prize as motivation to do good i can't fathom. Can't even remember most of the people who won one.

I guess you need to be waging 3 or more wars to be disqualified.

So what you're saying is you don't have your own reasons to oppose it.

Still though, something most Americans seem to miss is what an impact the election of Obama had on the rest of the world. Wasn't just you guys whose heads were filled with promises of hope & change... and most still believe.

I think this is the takeaway from the prize -- an insight into the rest of the world's opinion.

Because there is no practical reason whatsoever for him to have actually won a prize based on things he has really accomplished. Unless the criteria for a peace prize is nothing more than having spoken strongly about how you'd like to do something that might forward the cause of peace somewhere.... someday.

Although reddit does have a point:

"Actually Obama does deserve the Nobel Prize. If it wasn't for him - Sarah Palin would be in the White House right now."

that is only an average point, since it would be true if anyone but palin had been elected, from ron paul to spongebob

let's be honest, obama got it because he's like the black jesus of the future or something

@werldhed

im not saying that all. I have a list of reasons why but the ppl i've been asking have always been strong supporters of Obama and now they cant come up with a reason why he should have won other than saying, o... well its because hes gonna bring change thats why. Yeh! thats why you will see. and that to me is not a definitive answer

Do I think he deserves it? Not yet. Did it make me smile seeing that the world as a whole still supports Obama and has hope for America? Absolutely.
