new hard drive

i bought a seagate 1.5 TB HD i've got win xp pro installed, i installed the mobo drv (latest from nvidia) but for some reason it wont install my SM BUS controller plus i think it said some chip, but the main one is my ethernet, cause i need tardnet axis, so i swapped the drives just to type this. any ideas?

What OS and motherboard, and link us to the driver you're using.

It's possible to update the controller drivers manually but you have to be 100000% sure it's the correct driver or it's game over.

then i said fuck this and installed the new drive as a storage drive.
