Palin's cheat sheet
Re: Palin's cheat sheet
yeah he can talk the talk, but the walk part is proving harder
Re: Palin's cheat sheet
I know you don't pay attention to Palin, but part of what's been made apparent is that the notes on her hand weren't for her speech -- she didn't really even talk about any of those things in her speech.GONNAFISTYA wrote:Two questions:
1) Why are people laughing about this when Obama can't tell his daughters a bed-time story without teleprompters?
She made those notes strictly for the Q&A afterward, which is why it's so sad. And what makes it worse is that those are prompts to keep her on message -- but two of those three message prompts have been part of conservative mantra for decades. In other words, as a republican candidate, she has to write on her hand to remind herself that "Tax Cuts" is an important thing to say. Not only that - she fucked up the first time and wrote "Budget Cuts" then had to correct it!
While I'd love to see her disappear from television and all other media immediately, there is still a reason for pundits to talk about her simply because of the impact she is having on the republican party.GONNAFISTYA wrote:2) The most important question: Why are people still talking about Sarah Palin and the Tea Partyers like they actually matter? They're a bunch of crazy, racist rednecks...who cares what they do or say? They matter in politics as much as the KKK does...zilch.
Seriously...every single news item I've seen that mentions Sarah Palin or the birthers/tea party idiots I've skipped right over.
While I've cracked jokes that Palin can/might be elected, the only reason it a possibility and the only reason that it would ever come about is because people KEEP her in the news...like she's relevant to anything besides birthing a retard.
Also, you mentioned something earlier about disenfranchising the tea-baggers. Well, this little shindig she spoke at (sadly here in Nashville) a few days ago was part of a BIG wedge that is splitting up and disenfranchising their "movement" as we speak. The tea-baggers have already split into two factions: those who don't mind being sucked up by the republican party, and those who are just as pissed at republican politicians as they are at democratic ones.
There were already a lot of these wingnuts who were pissed about this $500-at-the-door convention to begin with, because (for some reason) they still thought of their movement as grass-roots, and thought the fancy, elitist convention was hijacking their party to benefit party-line republican candidates. Not only did Palin ignore all of them and decide to speak at it anyway (for the money no doubt), but she even made the comment that the republican party should absorb the tea-baggers. That's pissing a lot of them off even more.
So, essentially, a big part of the news is that Palin is actively breaking apart the movement that helped create her to begin with. And if she keeps going, she may continue to do the same thing to the republican party itself. So love it or hate it, it is big news, politically speaking.
Either way, I bet it's not very fun being John McCain right now.

I told you to drop it because you were beginning to look like an idiot in your approach of actually believing that American voters were in any way approaching rational thinkers. Even though Palin couldn't look any less professional or any less serious a politician, it simply won't matter in the slightest with her base. You seem to be unable to grasp that for some reason.
I'm not the one obsessing about her. I'm asking others to stop obsessing about her.

Re: Palin's cheat sheet
The humor came from Palin criticizing Obama for the prompters but writing on her hand. What's the fucking difference?
Also I doubt there was a prompter for this: http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/ ... ce=feature

I'd say it was a blast for him up until around 2000 or so, when that insolent Bush kid wouldn't get off his lawn.seremtan wrote:was this ever fun?R00k wrote:Either way, I bet it's not very fun being John McCain right now.

she's not smart relative to other politicians, but no way is her IQ 83.
-1 sigma? nah.

I have not said nor claimed such a thing. I was just having a laugh over Palin's endless stupidity. So what?GONNAFISTYA wrote: I told you to drop it because you were beginning to look like an idiot in your approach of actually believing that American voters were in any way approaching rational thinkers.
And you really are the pot calling the kettle black. If there's one person who spends a lot of words on American politics and American citizens/voters then it's you.
Re: Palin's cheat sheet
yeah, i'm pretty sure she's dumb relative to most high-achievers... but that's too low to be credible since, by all accounts, she was an honor student in high school.

It doesn't have to be true -- it's Satire!menkent wrote:yeah, i'm pretty sure she's dumb relative to most high-achievers... but that's too low to be credible since, by all accounts, she was an honor student in high school.

Re: Palin's cheat sheet
the satire thing was a joke about her. when Rahm Emmanuel called democrats retards she flipped her shit on facebook about it demanding he resign, but when Rush Limbaugh called politically correct people retards while commenting on the story she said that was ok because it was "satire."
