Landscape Borders.

Post by Sharkie »

Hey guys, for a while now I noticed that some maps have this kind of problem. Below are 2 shots of the map with the, I guess you can call *picture* landscape. Apparently for some time now the borders of these have become visible and i'm not exactly sure what the problem is, i'm not sure if I downloaded something or if this is a version glitch. Is anyone else by any chance having this happen too?

It's the infamous ATI driver bug. Actually, it's a Q3A bug but it only manifests itself with ATI drivers - hence the name. It's fixed in ioquake3.

Actually, the problem originates in nVidia's drivers. Their clamp-map (I think) implementation doesn't match the way OpenGL prescribes. Q3 matches nVidia's implementation so it looks Ok on nVidia cards. Since ATI uses the "correct" way to render things, the black lines show up.

Almost sounds like web development for different browsers, heh.
