GONNAFISTYA & LawL

Yes a Queenslander but an Australian first and foremost.

You may have missed my point. I don't wish to own that weaponry, shit I have had a few in my time. I am miffed I cannot again experience the thrill of live fire of auto weapons. I was an excellent clay pigeon shooter at one time and I loved the challenge. I was also in a Queenland Medal Rifle Shooting Team before most of you noobs were born :olo:

Question in return if I may?

Have you ever experienced the thrill (IMO) of live firing automatic shotguns, add double barrel/pumps if you like, a range of rifles (22 cal to 303/308), even machine guns and add ARs if you like again? What of real rocket launchers? I have and thankfully not in war. All in supervised range environments.

Every really thrown hand grenades. Every choked on teargas? Dressed in full riot gear and practiced pacifying an ugly crowd :ninja:

I think not.

I plead ignorance on the state of Canada and any gun laws it may have.

@dubz You're not listening. Who mentions going armed in public with intent?

If you wish to fire automatic weapons, then simply travel to a country where it's legal and blow your load for a day or two. A friend of mine in Denmark did exactly that: went to a shooting range in Croatia to fire MP5s and AK47s during a long weekend. He said he had a blast. I'd recommend you plan your next vacation for something like that if you miss it that much.

Yes. I grew up in the redneck part of Canada and I've fired many weapons many times...including a muzzle loader. I wasn't on a Medal Rifle Shooting Team, but I'm a very good shot. But I never owned anything more powerful than a CO2 pellet gun....which I promptly sold once I grew out of adolescence. In other words...unlike 15 year-olds running on testosterone and redneck hillbillies, most people aren't ga-ga about gun guns.

No...and I have no desire to. I'd love to shoot a machine gun, but I'd never want to own one and I'd never feel disappointed for not owning one.

As I said, I grew up shooting guns and I'm very comfortable around them, regardless of what gramps thinks. I simply disagree that people need to carry them for protection "wherever their car goes" and think that anyone who feels the need to carry in public is paranoid or at the very least has a screw loose. I also disagree that just because you have a right to own them doesn't mean you should. I'm sorry but simply stating "I have a right to carry" is nothing more than stating a lame excuse for something you desire to do anyways. If armed robbery ever became legal I doubt I'd actually go out and do it "because I can". The reason I wouldn't is the same reason I wouldn't carry a gun: civilized societies have deemed them inappropriate actions for community peace.

And before gramps goes and talks about the gun laws of the US...I said "civilized countries". :olo:
Whiskey 7 wrote:I plead ignorance on the state of Canada and any gun laws it may have.

Fair enough but don't think that because you can't own a howitzer doesn't mean that "big bad government" is infringing upon your rights. They're simply making rules that allow for everyone to feel safe, not just a few gun nuts.
Whiskey 7 wrote:@dubz You're not listening. Who mentions going armed in public with intent?
Uh....gramps does. Maybe not intent as in pre-meditated, but gramps does indeed mean business if he feels threatened. He's stated it several times...it's not hard to miss.

I too don't support every bastard carrying a firearm. What would the world be?

My point is I am not permitted by government to operate such weapons! That is wrong to me. I too don't need to own but would like to live fire without traveling to Vietnam or elsewhere. I really don't feel a need to carry for protection and will go back and read where I went wrong here.

I apologize as I seem to have misunderstood your motives/comments. I simply believe in everyone's right, where ever on the planet, to do as they see fit (while not interfering with others) without some bastard taking pot shots at 'em.

PS: My last post (pun if you like) as a 53 yo. Good night :olo: Holidays tomorrow Image

For the record, I don't have any beef with gramps' owning whatever he wants to. Like I said, I have pistols myself, and I enjoy some target practice with all kinds of weapons - I do it fairly regularly when it's nice outside, from 7 mags to AR-15s.
Of course, I can still call him a dumbass for some of the guns he picks out and spends his money on, but that's a matter of personal preference.

My beef is with wanting to carry a gun around with you everywhere you go. I have a good friend who does the same, and I've had this same conversation with him quite a few times. He also has a suppressor (it's pretty easy to get one here, basically just a tax stamp), and it stays in his car.

Retarded, right?

Well, when I ask him in all seriousness, why he carries that with him, after going through all the half-joking comments about Bourne Identity-type bs, the eventual answer is that he doesn't need a reason to carry it. He can carry it legally, therefore there is no reason to stop doing it. It's essentially the same story when it comes to just carrying a pistol.

The long and short of it is that everyone has a reason for things they intentionally do. People who fall back on "because I can" instead of providing their rationale usually just means that they are fully aware of their real reason for doing it, but are too embarrassed to admit it (like my buddy, who regularly has daydreams about being in a situation where he needs a silencer, and turns out to be some sort of hero when he has to quietly shoot some bad guy in the dark). Either that, or they're too dumb to know the real reason they do anything.

I'm still not sure which category gramps falls under, but I'm hoping it's the former.

Yeah...this from the guy who spends all day in IRC, posts picts of people shitting in other people's mouths in the forum you moderate and edit an entire threads to make it look like I made it. Then you get caught doing it. :olo:

It's more than obvious I've crushed you over successive years of bashing your favorite country to the point where you'll go out of your way to troll me. You simply cannot help yourself. Not just on anti-yank posts but pretty much anything. I've even made threads dedicated to your easy-to-troll moronics because you're truly that angry. You bring nothing to this forum except bitterness. :olo:

For me it's not that gramps doesn't "deserve" to carry a gun. It's that he shouldn't carry a gun because he's a reactionary dumb yank redneck gun nut who can't wait to be "forced" to shoot someone.

wasn't one of the questions in Bowling for Columbine why america is so absurdly obsessed with guns? i can't remember the movie very well, so i don't remember how that was addressed :(

You guys couldn't be more wrong. :olo:

I love all the speculation. It's not only imaginative, but incredibly stupid. Kind of like the ramblings of a retard. Especially since this is like the 3rd or 4th time around with the same BS. I've clearly explained myself multiple times. I can't help it if some of you don't believe me or can't justify a civilian carrying a firearm. Though it does seem quite pathetic that you can't agree to disagree with strangers on the internet and need to keep repeating the same things like, well, a retard.

I'm glad I could be here for you to obsess over. As long as you realize that you're obsessing over a person you don't really know about a Constitutional Right you can't change, you'll be fine. :tard:
