I'm buying a grill and I need to know, propane or charcoal?
I'm leaning towards propane simply because it seems to be the most popular and there is a wider selection. But I've also heard charcoal gives a better flavor. Do we have any grillers on here? What say you?

Re: Grill
how often do you plan on grilling?
edit:
pros of gas:
fast
less clean up
cons of gas:
supposedly not as tasty
if youre going to do it once in a while, then go with charcoal. if you plan to grill very frequently, then decide if the pros/cons of gas are worth it to you.

Re: Grill
charcoal unless you microwave your poptarts.
Re: Grill
Infrared gas is the best IMO. It's the same type of system they use in restaurants to get that seared on the outside, juicy on the inside, totally even cook. Not to mention its insanely fast. I throw applewood chips on the ceramic inlay to make up for the lack of charcoal. I've never eaten anything cooked off a proper, professional charcoal grill but this thing definitely destroys standard gas grills.

Re: Grill
Unless you're grilling everyday, I'd say go with charcoal. While the charcoal is heating up, that's when you do your sides, etc. anyway.xer0s wrote:I use a toaster.

MY HUSBAND DWAYNE HAS BEEN SAVING UP FOR THIS FOR QUITE SOME TIME

Re: Grill
What juggs said.
If you only grill occasionally, charcoal will be cheapest.
I personally prefer the taste of charcoal or wood grilled food, but other people are the opposite.
Propane's advantage is easy control of the heat. The time-saving advantage is minimal, in my experience. True, it will take longer to get the coals going, but the overall setup really isn't much different.
Just get one of these and you're good to go.
If you expect to do a lot of grilling, then propane or infrared is probably the way to go.

Re: Grill
All things considered i have to go with propane. Been years since I have used Charcoal, just because propane is so much easier to use.

Re: Grill
I use a propane BBQ with natural wood in a smoke box. Better flavour than charcoal alone.
